Probably a really dumb question, but you never know with security these days. Has anyone flown with a candle in their carry on? I mean I don’t know why, but I feel like they’re not allowed. I’ve googled it and I haven’t found anything for or against traveling with it. But then again it’s not liquid or gel when it’s not lit.. anyone have experience with it? I want to bring a yankee candle home with me this week for my Mom as a b-day present, but I won’t be checking my bag. I don’t want the candle confiscated since it’s a yankee candle and pricey!!! (well wasn’t really pricey since I got it on sale, but still worth a pretty penny!)

I’ve never had a candle, but I always fly with my lighter and razor and have never had problems. I don’t think you have anything to worry about, but if it makes you feel better you can wrap it in your clothes so TSA doesn’t find it.

I have flown with candles with no issues. Actually i was pulled aside at one airport and my bag checked by hand because I had a pineapple shaped candle and I guess it looked weird on the security scanner. But once they saw it was a candle it was fine.

I can’t think of any reason a candle wouldn’t be allowed. Gels and liquids are not, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wax. That being said, I haven’t tried to take one through security before.

I don’t think there’s a problem with a candle… unless it’s made to look like dynamite…

Yes! They took it out and investigated it, but let me keep it. I had no clue that a stinking candle was a “liquid.” This was also about 3 years ago and security has gotten more lax since then. I think it would be fine.
