I don't know what got me thinking, but do you like when someone says their ring looks just like yours?  Or does it burst your bubble of mine is the only one like this in the entire world?

haha good question!  When peeps on here have the same one, Im like "sweet!"  I havent had anyone in real life say thers is like mine, but a friend does want the exact same one.  Im shockingly ok with it.  A lot of people want my photographer, and for that I get super protective and dont want to give her name to people Im friends with.  Selfish I know, but if the wedding is in the same place as mine was I dont want her to be used lol.

I haven't had anyone say their ring is just like mine, but a few of my single friends have said that mine is just like the one they want to get. That doesn't bother me at all... I had it first. ;)

Haha! I haven't run into this yet, but I am pretty sure I will have a slight twinge of jealousy when I have someone say theirs is just like mine!

Fortunatley, I have an antique-custom hand-me-down ring, that I haven't seen a duplicate to yet! If it did though - I'd just say "hey, you and your hubby have good taste!"

Ah, the only person who's said that they confused the ring with someone's was somebody here on WB who said her sister has one kind of like mine...

But otherwise, seriously, i have not met A SINGLE person with anything like mine. I'd be completely shocked. How random! I think i'd just be totally surprised if someone actually had one like mine...

My lil sister likes most of the same things I like so her ring will be similar to mine....she likes to joke that her ring is a baby version of mine...LOL. Not taking into account size...her ring is gold, mine is platinum...but it's still similar enough that family members say that her fiance "copied" mine...whatever. I could care less....we both have rings we love and WE don't have a problem with the fact that our rings are similar....everybody else can eat cake.

Well, this actually happened to me. It was really weird for me too. When I got engaged one person in particular gushed over my ring and said it is her dream ring and she wants the same one blah blah. Well... I was like ... ok it's mine and you cannot have it - just thinking =) and I just smiled.

Fast forward, she is engaged, she tells me and everyone her ring is the same as mine. No ... it's not. Everyone agrees its not ... but she's convinced herself. She has a square diamond - princess cut I think, with a halo of diamonds around it. Mine is a cushion cut ... no halo and there are diamonds around the entire band - hers is halfway.

It's weird that she tells everyone her ring is based on mine ... doesn't she want her own ring? I really have never seen anyone in person with a ring that looks just like mine.

Because I have the traditional solitaire, tons of people have similar rings heh I've only see one person on WB with the exact Tiffany's ring though. At least since it's from Tiffany's, not EVERYONE I know has it. My wedding band is much more unique though. I've seen one person wearing it IRL, and he happened to be a gay man with about 4 other bands on the same finger. One person on WB has a nearly identical ring. It doesn't bother me too much though. It's just not my personality to want to have things nobody else has lol

I actually just told that to someone on here yesterday! MissSnowWhite, I believe?  Because, well they look exactly the same! haha I don't mind it at all on here. But I also have a friend whose looks very similar to mine, and I don't really like that fact haha.

I would be very impressed if someone had the same ring as mine, since mine's an Art Deco estate piece!

@GaBGal: I hope you kicked her, lol.  Seriously, though, that was rude of her to say.

MsHymanRoth:  I remember your ring and its beautiful!  I truly think yours is one of a kind!  But thats a funny story and from the sounds of it, it seems nothing like yours.  I hope that girl wasn't here on WB...oops!

I would feel a bit of jealousy I think!  My diamond is old, but the setting is pretty modern and new, so I think people might have that be similiar to my ring (its a Ritani micropave setting).  But to me...its the made with lots of love (FI and the FMIL-it was her stone)!!

I haven't heard that, and my ring isn't super imaginative, but I don't anticipate that it'd upset me.

It doesn't bother me if someone compliments/likes/compares my ring, BUT, that said, what happened to MsHymanRoth and GaBGal - yeah - not OK!!!

I DO think it's weird and would be a little off-put by that person.

In my case, not many people have asscher cut stones, so I'm yet to run into someone with "my" ring.

I've never seen a ring anything like mine before, the jeweler even told us that it's a truly one-of-a-kind ring...
One of FI's guy friends who is engaged saw it and said "My fiance told me it looked a lot like hers..." I was shocked. I've seen her ring, it's a 3-stone emerald with NO pave diamonds at all.
Mine is a three stone princess cut with pave diamonds surrounding the three main stones, paves on the sides of the setting, and 3/4 of the way down the band. I was kinda pissed, like she was saying that I copied her ring just because the was engaged a week before me... But I just smiled and nodded...

It doesn't bother me when people say that to me.  However, this (true) story does:

Right after we got engaged, we went out with all our friends who we don't see too often.   As the night went on one of my friends kept gushing over my ring.  She really wanted to get engaged and she kept telling her boyfriend to take a good look at my ring because she loved it.  Well, I obliged and showed her boyfriend my ring thinking he could use it as inspiration.  Unbeknownst to me, he later cornered my husband and asked tons of details about the ring, where he got it, etc.  Three months later they were engaged.  We went to their engagement party.  He proudly announced to my husband that he went to his jeweler and found my ring!!! He got her the exact same ring (except 1 carat smaller) from the exact same jeweler. HOW.ANNOYING.IS.THAT!?!?!?  I spent the whole night trying to hide my ring so that no one else would notice!

I know it's "water under the bridge" but it still annoys me...

It might bother me if everyone had the same ring as me, but I've only seen a few people with similar styles. I just admire their rings and think they have great taste ;)

I have seen very few people with my ring, but it's interesting to see what wedding band has been paired with it since it is not a normal ring.

I see a LOT of rings and really... when I went to go look for my own I kept thinking... gosh... haven't I seen this before?

So, once I finally get mine, although I actually HAVENT seen one similar... if someone said something i'd probably smile and say something like "Awesome, isn't it amazing?" ;-)

It doesn't bug me. Mine is a pretty simple/basic design, so I'm sure it's kinda common. Plus every stone is different so it can't be the exact one no matter what. haha. Corney, I know but it makes me smile. = )

Mine is simple, but it was custom, so far no one has said that yet!

Mine is a pretty common style so it doesn't bother me bc then I would be bothered a lot!

I was actually a little worried when I got it bc FH's best friend had proposed to his GF a few months beforehand with an almost identical ring, the only difference was the shape of the stone (princess cut vs round) but luckily, nobody minded (at least, no one told me if she did!)

my ring is pretty unique so I don't have that problem, most have never seen a setting like mine, BUT finding a wedding band to match is proving very difficult. Some just look awkward next to my band.
