I believe its the first missed period since your last confirmed period. What gets tricky is ones cycle can by whacky, so mid cycle spotting, implantation bleeding and such can skew what you consider your last period. Also, women can ovulate on different days, so it throws typical cycles to the wind so to speak.

If your charting/temping and are actively trying/ or just keep good track, its probably easier to compile an accurate window & presumption.

Its the first missed period since your last actual period. If one had a period two weeks ago, they would, in theory be ovulating and able to get pregnant. Then there is what a lot of people call the two week wait (TWW) until they can test and see if they are positive or not.

Of course if you tested a month after the TWW, you would also get a positive, but you would just be even more pregnant.
