Ok so I’ve had an awful time with David’s Bridal. Through all of the horrible experience I just kept telling myself it was worth it because there is a David’s back home where I’m getting married and they’ll steam my dress and at least I have the support of the store where I purchased my dress in both places.
Dress shopping was horrible and after some stories about their alterations department (charged my boss $100 to use hemming tape on her dress, never sewed it and wouldn’t fix it) and after they refused to do the alterations I wanted since it would change the “design” of the dress I took it elsewhere to be altered. They told me if I took it anywhere else they wouldn’t do any alterations after that which is fine, they said they would only steam it.
Fast forward to today. My mom walks in there to have my veil steamed and set up an appointment for next week to have my dress steamed. Unless I have a receipt stating I had alterations done at David’s they will not steam it. I called and said but I didn’t have any alterations done anywhere (believe me they’ve lied to me numerous times throughout the process, including my consultant removing the all sales are final tag on my veil and telling me only dresses and shoes are non returnable, everything else can be brought back) and they said it doesn’t matter. If you didn’t pay to have alterations done at David’s, you cannot have it steamed. They said it was steamed when it was delivered (6 months before my wedding) and that is all they will do for me. The original steaming is part of the dress package, but any further care of the dress is part of the alterations package, if you don’t pay for alterations you don’t get anything else. Yeah I’m flying with my dress so obviously there is no sense in me having it steamed here with my seamstress. So fortunately I live in a small town and my mom’s dry cleaner is going to take care of it for me.
Just wanted to share with all of you about my experience at David’s, I’ve seen brides on here with amazing experiences, I’ve seen brides that have had dress modifications done with David’s (they refused to change mine to a sweetheart or a corset back) and I’ve seen people with horrible experiences. I think it just depends on the David’s and the brides.
