Sorry for the itchiness 🙁 Feel better soon..
On a creepy and un-related note, those are my exact allergies, too… (plus morphine)
@RMBsbride: lol…I dont like morphine and they keep trying to give it too me for surgeries but I throw up each time.
Sulpha just give me the rash on my arms and makes me itchy all over
Codiene makes me pass out and do the funky chicken on the floor while throwing up lol
I am squirming over here and pissed lol I am going to try and fight taking the Benadryl till I cant take it any longer cause I cant sleep till tonight or I will never be up by 3am
Oh no 🙁 The doctor probably should have known that Celebrex has sulpha in it–I would say that the pharmacist should have known, too, but if he/she didn’t know you had that allergy, they wouldn’t know to warn you.
I loooove having surprise allergic reactions to crap. Isn’t it awesome? I usually pop a Loratadine (generic Claritin) and hope for the best.
Most doctors don’t know that Celebrex has a sulfa component in it. Also, when people say they are allergic to “sulfa”, that usually means the sulfa antibiotics, so even if he knew about Celebrex, maybe he thought that’s what you really meant. There are some diabetes meds that have a sulfa componenttoo, so it’s not unusual to be able to take those meds and/or Celebrex and not sulfa antibiotics.
Do you have any topical Benadryl cream? I would try that instead of the pills. Less systemic absorption, so you should not be as sleepy from it.
Hope you feel better soon!
Aw, not cool of your doctor!
You guys are awesome…I just took 2 benadryl and when I was taking my mother to the bank she looked at my stomach sides and back and said I am covered 🙁 SOOOOOO Itchy. I did tell the doc that I had a bad allergy to Sulpha but not antibotics just “sulpha”. The pharmacy didnt know because they were samples from the doc 🙁
Now I know better lol
Urgh, sorry! That’s something the Pharmacist should have caught. Hugs!
What an idiot! It is so annoying when doctors don’t do their job right, and dangerous!
That’s super scary! I hope the reaction passes quickly. I also have a sulpha allergy and have been prescribed Celebrex, but I never ended up filling it. Good thing, too!
