@DDG84:  it depends on where you are? I found cars to be very expensive as well ($1100 for two jags) but i think you will find better with the DJ. Shop around! mine cost $550 for the full night and for unlimited dance lessons 🙂

hehehe that was my favourite rant on the bee so far! Seriously though, you make me scared to start planning 😛 I know that the prices are crazy, but I’m not looking forward to reality hitting me once I start planning lol!

A 2k DJ? Holy hell! So glad I am in the South, in my town $500 is average. I’m sorry, I hope you are able to find reasonable vendors.

I LOVE YOUR HEADLINE!!! I seriously have probably told my FI that im going to sell myself on the corner a few times to pay for our wedding lol

I get what you  mean by the 2k dj.  Ours is actually more than that! I know there were cheaper out there but we went with someone a little more well known just because we wanted to so that was our own fault.

I live in CT so I completely understand about prices of things being absolutely absurd! A piece of ice for $750 really? lol its freaking water!!

Dont get me started on the cost of venues around here! lol

@DDG84:  it depends on your guests. I personally wouldnt have a Ipod dj if you are having the works elsewhere. However if it were a small garden wedding ipod dj is fine 🙂

@DDG84:  You definitely lucked out! They always try their hardest with the first weddings to make sure they bring in more business! We havent decided what we are definitely doing yet, all I knwo is we have paid for the block of ice.  It will either say LOVE but with the LO above the VE then our names on the bottom or it will just be a big monogram, however, another waste of money the lighting includes a huge light monogram up on the back wall so I dont knwo if I want two types of monograms in the same room. We will see! Good luck with everything! My opinion on the ipod, Id try to shop around for dj, if your having a big wedding, having a dj there will make things less stressful for you.  You dont want to worry about having to switch songs for cake cutting or first dances or have to time things out to match songs!

The whole wedding industry is out to get us.  When I look at anything that has the word wedding in it the price is 3 times as much.  Google – champagne flute…………….. ok now google – toasting glasses….. Any one see what I mean.

DJ’s

Photographers

Invitations

Who comes up with the industry standard for pricing because I wanna have a long talk with them.

But we pay because we want………………however, my DJ came with a photo booth (it was a special) $1000.00  (complete music and video).

I understand your frustration.  Keep looking.
