Original plan was to go with navy. We found navy Ann Taylor dresses that everyone liked: a few good styles to choose from, they come in at about $150 on sale, and they should fit like regular dresses and not alterations-necessary wedding garb.
Except navy was a winter color, and there are like 3 sizes left.
J.Crew and BHLDN are too expensive (the girls seem very flexible, but there’s no way I’m suggesting dresses over $200). Donna Morgan makes navy, but I tried on some of their dresses in the store and I think that they would require a ton of alterations to look good. Girls don’t seem super excited about doing David’s Bridal/Alfred Angelo, and DB doesn’t even have a good navy chiffon, at least in the styles we like.
And what’s up with the ratio of nice-looking dresses to “oh my god, who would ever wear that?!” It’s like they’ve kept all of the styles from the past 3 decades. How hard would it be to update your collection? Not looking for cutting edge fashion here, just classic dresses.
