That is so awful! I cant imagine the judges decision will be allowed to stand

Ummm….The fuck?  If I were that poor woman I would be BEYOND PISSED right now.  From what I read, it seems as though the judges overturned the conviction to prove a point?  Am I reading that right?  To prove the point that the law needs to be “examined”?

It’s totally disgusting. Then again so are many of the ways that women are treated in this country. I was just reading another case out of Ohio where a group of high school boys had raped one girl at a party and most of the group was going to get away with it until hackers leaked the videos they made of them bragging about assaulting her.

@peasantsong:  You can’t blame the judges. Their job is to interpret the laws that exist, not make new ones. I agree it’s sick, that’s why the law should be changed. 

Plus, nothing’s set yet – the judges could have let him off but instead they ordered a retrial. The man can (and probably will, based on the fact that the woman was sleeping) still be convicted of rape.
