I just read this news article http://www.news.com.au/world-news/girl-5-latest-victim-of-sexual-violence-in-india-fights-for-life-after-brutal-rape/story-fndir2ev-1226624823023 and it makes me so sad for this little girl. I can’t believe the police had the audacity to tell her parents to be content she was alive!?! I’ve two little nieces and if a police officer had said that to my brother and SIL about one of them, I’d end up being arrested for beating the crap out of him! I hope with all my heart this little girl survives this.
Just needed to vent and share.

It is such a horrible, horrible thing, they should really fix the justice system and make sure all these types of crimes are investigated and prevented!

Eugh that is too much. I can barely read it 🙁 🙁 🙁
The only consolation is the way public opinion is outraged. It seems many Indians want things to change, thankfully

Its not really uncommon… this is about more than specific people its a cultural and social issue… though there is alot of fight for change and women’s rights which is good, it will be slow to come. I feel like its tied up in a culture that has accepted certain attitudes about women and rape for a very long time. Thank goodness there is hope. Poor girl.
