I was just wondering if any of you have had/or know about resizing plaitnum. I’ve put on weight since getting married (thanks honeymoon) and I’m keen to go up from 8.5>9. Is it a pain for them to do, like do they have to cut it and add more metal in or can they stretch it a tiny tiny bit? Both my rings are solid 3mm rings so it’s not like their delicate.

@mestisanz: They have to add more metal and usually if you don’t have a service protection plan where you purchased the ring sizing up platinum can be expensive. It’s a hard metal to work with also so usually jewelers charge more.

A half size should not be a problem. Just make sure you go to a very reputable jeweler who works with platinum frequently. Do NOT take it to a mall type jewelry store. They may not have to add metal, they might be able to thin out the inside of the ring depending on the thickness of it.

I had mine moved up one size and I was charged $80.

It depends on the piece, but hopefully stretching it 1/2 a size will be easy. Take it to a reputable jeweler to see what they think.

I got my rings made at a reputable jeweller and I’m just hesistant to go back and get them resized as when I got them made he was like “are you SURE this is the size you want as platinum is harder to resize”. I dont want to go in hanging my head in shame! My rings fit fine now but i dont wan’t to not wear them when I’m pregnant one day – not wearing them for nearly 4 months on honeymoon was TORTURE!
