FI and I talked with a few florists and I just sent the email asking our top choice whether he was still available and would sign a contract with us.
I don’t know why, but every time I nail something down I get nervous about it–I guess it’s just knowing that I don’t have a choice to make anymore, even if I wanted to book so I could stop worrying about who was or wasn’t going to do our flowers. Silly.
Anyone else get more nervous when they ask to nail down a vendor’s commitment rather than comforted that one more thing can get checked off the list?

I guess I feel a little bit of both (relief and anxiety)- I think the flowers may be something that is more nerve-wracking, because we really wont see the results until the wedding day!
Other parts of the wedding like favors, wedding party clothes, venue, or the band, you can see the quality in advance and feel a little bit more in control.
I did so much research before I chose a florist, I have never had so many meetings within a month in my life!

I think you’re right that it’s largely that I can’t really see anything yet.
I heard back already, though; I emailed just a couple hours ago, so his responsiveness bodes well! He’s hilarious–I had all these other potential florists pushing me to put hydrangea in my bouquet because you get a bigger bang for your buck (those big blooms). I think they’re pretty, but I just didn’t want them in a bouquet; I was fine with centerpieces but nobody but this guy was on the same page about carrying them.
Anyway, I just wanted to double check that he would not put them in the bouquets. He responds “NEVER hydrangea in any bouquets! Unless you are going for the most wilted bouquet ever!” This guy makes me laugh.
(I don’t want to insult anyone carrying hydrangea; my friend carried some for her spring wedding and they were beautiful, but in December they would wilt if you let them get anywhere near the outdoors, where we hope to do our first look)

I totally do- I got really nervous when we booked our photographer, and I hated it b/c I was like, “Is this a bad gut feeling or am I just being psycho?” I was better wtih our florist, and with our band I was 100% sure.
It’s probably just nerves about the wedding coming off well and you’re prob just projecting onto the specific vendors.
Also does your florist do sample centerpieces? Ours will do one for us, our wedding is next June so we’re going to go this June, so that we can see it with all the flowers when they are in season. Although who knows if my mind will change a lot over a year!
