Bustle fail. It should not drag at all.
People will step on it, bustle will break.
I would take it back and demand it done right.
The lady was recommended by the local bridal store. She trimmed up the bottom of the dress, but I'm going somewhere else to re-do the bustle. Don't care if it costs $50 more.
(had to shrink the photo)
Oh no...that should absolutely be bustled up. Total botch job. Definitely get it done somewhere else b/c people are going to step on it and rip the bustle out.
Um. No. Just....no. That should not have happened. Get another seamstress if you don't want to go back and ask for it to be fixed, and whatever you do let the bridal shop know what happened. It hurts their reputation if they recommend someone that doesn't deliver.
Yeah, it should NOT be on the floor at all. That's the complete point of a bustle. Can you get your money back?
The lady said, "oh people will get out of the way"
I know I have a long train, but really, I know my sister-in-law had her's bustled all the way up and it still was stepped on and buttons ripped out.
I'm just venting and seeing what other brides think of the bustle job (from the photo)
Wow - that's not cool. How are you supposed to dance in that? People will be stepping on your dress all night!! I'd go back & tell her to do it properly or you want your money back. It's not so much the$$ as the principle of the matter.
Yeah, that seemstress has NO IDEA what she's doing. I would take that to another one and get a PROPER bustle!! I would also tell the bridal store that the seemstress they recommended is a hack and if they want YOUR recommendation as a bride, they shouldn't recommend her anymore. Geez, that is just wrong, you can't dance in that! You'll step all over it and it'll rip!!
I would definitely take it back and get her to re-do it or demand money back. That is NOT a bustle??? Very strange!
I'm also glad I'm not the only person who sees this as a messed up job.
Yeah that def should be up more. But I have to say, even if your dress is bustled all the way up it is likely it will rip out by the end of the night anyway. My dress' bustle fell out, as did all of my friends' bustles when they were getting married. My 2 BM who are already married told me on my wedding day "that you aren't having enough fun if your bustle doesn't fall out by the end of the night". I like that quote!
Wow...that she had the audacity to say that!! I would have been like, well a REAL bustle doesn't need for people to 'get out of the way'. I would definitely tell the bridal store about this seamstress they recommended.
You should tell her that if you wanted it to drag the floor then you wouldn't have bothered with the bussel in the first place. i would get my money back, it doesn't even look right. That woman doesnt know what she is doing.
Wait wait wait....the seemstress said WHAT?? That is possibly the dumbest thing I've ever heard!! Even my BROTHERS knew to tell me when my bustle was dragging/falling!! She clearly has no idea what a bustle is for...fired. FIRED! And I would get my money back!!
And looking at that picture, I can already tell you that she started the bustle WAY TOO LOW and no wonder if the last 8 inches are dragging still! You have to start the bustle up at the seam. Dress designers DO think of this when they design, HELLO! (My DH is a fashion major and he just told me that bustle job is a hot mess...)
Doesn't that pretty much defeat the purpose of bustling it?
Agree with previous bees.
Oh my gosh. Is this lady NEW at being a seamstress? Please go back to the store and ask for a refund. That is unacceptable! I'd also call the bridal store and send them a pic/show them what a botched job she did.
It looks to me like it has a hook missing. Is that how the seamstress told you to hook it?
she did all the hooking up. I asked her to do it all up (top photo) so I could get an idea for my family when they needed to do it later.
I agree with the other girls. Massive bustle FAIL. Take it somewhere else and ignore everything that woman ever said to you, she has no idea what she's doing.
Wow, that bustle doesnt' look right at all. I love the look of bustles but that just looks so wrong.. I'd be pretty pissed and demand my money back and take it else where to get it done PROPERLY.
Yeah that is so weird. The bustle is supposed to be up to the length at the front of your dress and not on the floor at all!
Have her fix it! If it were me I would not be paying for the correction, either.
"They will get out of the way" -- HA! That is hilarious.
Another bee recommended this great website that shows the bustle types... she has a few good ones for dresses with long trains. If you find another seamstress who you think is talented, maybe you could just show her a picture of the bustle you want.
That's crazy!
You should definitely get it re-bustled, and get your money back on top of that!
My old roommates train was even longer than yours and it bustled all the way up beautifully (and quite simply, I might add).
THAT'S MY DRESS!!!! I wore the same exact dress (Casablanca?!?!) 12/27/09 and had a great bustle! It was a huge ordeal for the seamstress to get it right, but it turned out so well.
print that last pic out and take into your seamstress! that one looks right.

Here's a site full of pictures of many types of bustles. A good seamstress will know what to do with yours.
That's a BS job, IMO. you need to get it fixed, and let the store you got it know! That's just...yeah no.
Demand your money back.... Plain and simple. If she denies it file a claim with the BBB for failure to provide services for payment rendered. Then review the heck out of her and ask your dress store why the recommended her.
oh, I called the bridal store. I emailed them the photo of the bustle and what the train looked like not bustled. What was really funny, was the seamstress specifically asked for cash (no checks apparently).

So, I just picked up my dress from the seamstress. I really dislike the bustle job. I know I have a long train, but it drags on the floor at least six inches.
What's ya'lls thoughts?
