I know!!! It looked like it was more for the mom to show off rather than the kid. Even the party for the other RH's kid was $12,000, but that at least seemed like a more kid-friendly party!
Such a guilty pleasure for me those RH shows!!
I am LOVING the RH of BH. I may have to start recording it. That $60k party really was for the mom (and not the daughter). I loved the shot of all the adults at the long table and then they panned out to the kids playing in the little dirt area with the nannys.
The other birthday party did look a LOT more kid friendly. Still WAY over the top but at least the kids looked like they were having fun!
i had never watched that cast of RH before yesterday when i saw the bday party episode....wow. i love how they tried to make the $12K party look like the "budget" option compared to the $60K party. at least the "budget" party actually looked fun for the kids though. i was really surprised by the women they got to be on this cast....kelsey grammer's wife (well, soon to be ex-wife) and kathy hilton's two sisters? don't these women have enough notoriety already, do they really need even more attention?
@Birdie Love: It was totally for the mother to show off. I laughed so hard when the band played Kennedy's special, written-just-for-her birthday song. The line, "You're beautiful...just like your mom."
HAHAHA. I bet she demanded that line be in there.
Total guilty pleasure. Camille is particularly hilarious to watch. Constantly whining about wanting to be her own person but dropping Kelsey's name whenever possible. And I loved when Adrienne invited them to the Kings game and flew them to Sacramento. "This is gonna sound soooo snotty...but Kelsey and I have been flying private for years..."
@kitzy: It was a beautiful party. And you know what I loved about it? The mismatched china they used was the china I registered for! LOL.
@Theresa90405: YES - "you're beautiful, just like your mom" - i was dying laughing. amazing.
@Theresa90405:haha i agree about camille! it's almost painful to watch, though, knowing how her entire life seems to revolve around name-dropping her husband when we know it's now her ex!
@kitzy: That and what got me is how she couldn't function without 2 nannies and a house manager. Plus she always seems to be up on some other guy.
PS what is up with Taylor's (?) husband? The one who got his daughter a puppy. He seems like a total dud but he has some weird control over her.
@KatNYC2011: "PS what is up with Taylor's (?) husband? The one who got his daughter a puppy. He seems like a total dud but he has some weird control over her."
His $$$$$.
I loved when she was telling the story about how they met...how she saw him from across the room. And everyone was like, WHAT?!?!
Lisa is my favorite. She's hilarious. I loved when she said "opposites attract" in her interview. Hahahah!!
@Theresa90405: Lisa is SO funny. I just feel like there's something off about Taylor's husband. He seems very controlling yet socially awkward at the same time.
PS I had MAJOR jealousy when they showed Lisa's closet. OMG those SHOES!! And EVERYTHING color coordinated. I want!
@Theresa90405: "I loved when she was telling the story about how they met...how she saw him from across the room. And everyone was like, WHAT?!?!"
Totally!! My DH was watching it with me and we looked at each other and were like, "umm bull$hit!!!"
You know what else killed me? The extremely porny way Taylor was going at that cotton candy.
@Theresa90405: That was WAY too funny. The camera man/editors had a BLAST with that too.
Also, how much plastic surgery has Camille had... her face doesn't MOVE!
seriously camille has 4 nannies! i loved when she told the others that she used a surrogate for her 2 kids so her body wouldn't be ruined, and they all looked at her like she was CRAZY.
and when taylor told them she pursued him, not the other way around, it was crickets...he is so controlling!
also, it's so funny that lisa is ALWAYS wearing pink.
I love this show. Well, I love it because I hate it. The best part was how they let Taylor talk about her studly Texas cowboy husband and how he's so manly and she's worried women will steal him and waited an episode or two before showing him so that we could all be like THAT'S HIM?? LOLLLL.
Lisa is my favorite. "Camille was dancing with a... pantomime... lion??"
The birthday party was ridiculous. It was just for Taylor to show off. The daughter didn't even want any part of it. I died when Taylor was posing by herself with the photographer while the daughter was off playing with the nanny.
@kitzy: I seriously think Camille has several screws loose.
@ohheavenlyday: omg i forgot about the photo shoot. that was priceless.
@kitzy: 4 nannies?? for 2 kids???
Camille kills me. She is so over the top vapid and pretentious I can't even stand it. The constant complaining about how busy she is and how much she's got going on is nauseating. Um, you've got 4 nannies and a house manager. And you don't work. How busy can you possibly be? I know dropping your husband's name right and left and banging the tennis instructor can be time consuming, but come on. That woman couldn't even give birth to her children on her own, much less anything else.
I felt bad for her when I heard about the way she was dumped but after watching a few episodes of the show, my sympathy is totally gone. And you know she's cheating on her husband, she's practically hanging all over her male "friends" in every episode. If she's that bad on camera, I can't imagine what she's doing once the cameras are turned off. She's the kind of woman who needs constant male validation and attention. Those kinds of women don't do well when their husbands aren't around. Especially when they're bored out of their minds. And what was with all of that "I'm such a generous person!!! I'm so wonderful!!!" pandering in the last episode? If you're constantly bragging about your "generosity" it kind of defeats the whole point, you know?
I feel sorry for Taylor. She's clearly unhappy in her marriage and her weird, controlling husband's only "good" quality is his money (which is obviously why she's with him.) And she's constantly interviewing about how she's worried he's going to trade her in for a younger model (like Mr. Grammer.) Obviously there's not a lot of substance to that relationship. What a crappy way to live your life, money or no.
Lisa totally rocks my socks. Love her. Most down to earth one in the bunch.
@lezlers: LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ahhhhhhh!!!! banging the tennis instructor? HILARIOUS!!!!
i love this show. i enjoy it sooo very much. i love the entire franchise and i think bev hills might be my favorite. they mostly seem vapid but lisa and adrienne are running successful businesses. taylor and camille need to stop with the plastic surgery though. camille's claims she had her implants removed? GTFOH!!! she had them replaced with a new pair. LOL!!!! kyle is my favorite i think. kyle and lisa for sure.
so i wasnt really into the commercials for this show, but caught the show on a marathon over the wknd. and i gotta admit, i'm totally into this new branch of the RHW.
i think my opinions changed and have developed throughout watching the first half of the season's episodes.
-taylor is a barbie wife, that doesn't do anything, but throws herself and her friends parties using "her daughter" as the excuse. the whole "lisa would spend 60K on shoes comment" threw me for a loop...
-lisa is a sweetheart. and i <3 how she is with her children.
-i like kyle as well. her sister is kind of too needy and insecure... perpetual cycle syndrome.
-camille? i kinda felt bad for her in the beginning cuz she wasnt as close the other girls. but now? i think she is out with this mantra of "i work too hard (umm right withyour 4 nannies), i'm my own woman (kelsey is in a sentence every other sentence), "i like helping people" (no you don't, becuz u only help those who adorn you as a goddess in return... -- did you guys see that couple in hawaii with her?! ) MAKE ME GAG.
-adrienne, i feel bad for her hubby sometimes, but i like how "modest" she is about her success. even her opening credit lines is my fave :P
@missjyc: "the whole "lisa would spend 60K on shoes comment" threw me for a loop..."
I love Lisa soooo much that I actually felt compelled to go to Bravo TV blogs for the first time. Here's her response to that comment:
I cannot fathom spending $50,000 on a four-year-old's birthday, and caught the remark from Taylor that I would maybe rather spend it on shoes. Well actually, darling, if you happen to read this, I work too hard for my money to be as whimsical or downright stupid as that.
Hmmm.... my sister's bat mitzvah cost twice the amount of my wedding. I went to Israel for mine, but if it was local I'm sure it would have been the same.
But for my 4th birthday my mom made my outfit and all of the games herself.

LOVE HER! She is proof that you can be ridiculously wealthy without being obnoxious and/or pretentious.
Haha, I don’t usually watch any of the RH franchises, but I did actually see that birthday episode this weekend on the marathon. It was weird – the party was definitely much more about the mom and everyone telling her how absolutely fabulous she was than being about the kid. Her lips look so weird too!
How terrible that the dad got the 4 year old a puppy too. Animals are alive, they are not props/toys. I think its inappropriate to give an animals to a kid that young anyhow, but especially as an impulse buy that the other adults in the family didn’t want and didn’t agree to. He also probably bought it at a Beverly Hills pet shop.
I thought it was funny when she kept complaining about how her husband works so much – I want to say “ummm hello, of course he has to work hard - how else do you think you afford to throw 60k birthday parties!” lol
@gabrielleelise1981: And she knew what she was getting herself into when she married him. She said in a previous espisode that he had ALWAYS been that way, get she relentlessly pursued him (despite his procliamed disinterest) for god only knows what reason.
Oh wait, we do know. His money. I can't imagine why else an attractive, somewhat intelligent (I'm guessing on that one) woman would relentlessly pursue an absentee, controlling, socially awkward, unattractive man.
I'm sorry, I just have no respect for blatent gold diggers. (Sheree and Kim from RHW of Atlanta, I'm looking at you, too.)
@artbee: Ha! That comment makes me love Lisa even more. I may have to read their blogs.
I loved her comment how the most exciting thing that ever happened at her kids parties was that maybe a spotted dog would wander up from the countryside.
OH MY GOSH!!! I love this thread!!! RH is for sure a guilty pleasure of mine - my husband tells me he feels dumber after watching it but I just can't stop!
These ladies from BH are hysterical! Camille is so laughable - talking about how much work it is to plan a vacation without "Kelsy" (who she is so determined to be known for without) - she should try planning one of the amazing weddings we've all been doing all by our lonesomes.... (ok with the help of the bees and friends and maybe a DOC here or there...lol)

I love this show. It might be my favorite RH cast yet.
Talk about showboating! I find it amazing when people shell out small fortunes for Bar Mitzvahs or Sweet 16s. But at least that's a milestone birthday.
$60k for a child who's turning 4?!?!?
That was like 6 times my wedding budget!!
