Anyone have a pear shaped e-ring? I'm starting to really love them. Especially the ones that are bezel set. Can I maybe see some pictures from the ladies who are lucky enough to own this TOTALLY underappreciated, beautiful cut stone?

I loooove pear shape rings!  But, I'm kind of OCD about things matching and looking "balanced", so I knew a pear center stone would eventually drive me nuts.  So I got pear shaped side stones.  I mean, I didn't pick it out or anything, but I dropped enough hints and got exactly what I wanted lol.  The look is so simple and pretty (and balanced), I love it :)

It is not my actual e-ring, but I have a beautiful 1.25ct topaz pear shaped ring with small diamond flecks on the sides my FI gave me for my 25th birthday. I wore it as my e-ring until we were able to find and afford the ring I wanted. It took me a while to warm up to it, but now I love it soo soo much. My ring looks a bit like the ring I am posting, but mine has a blue stone, a slightly thinner band, and smaller diamonds on the side. I have NO pictures of my pear ring or my e-ring! Terrible!

Ahhh! Sugarsweet, I am SOO the same way. It's all about symmetry. Everyone gets all frustrated at me when we're decorating the Christmas tree because I switch things around a million times until it is just perfect. Which is why the bf was quite confused when I was like, "Babe, sorry to throw you off... I think I'd like a pear shape..." Haha. It'll take him a while. I think it's the fact that I've looked at SOOOO many rings. Like, to the nth degree. I've always said I wanted something really classic, yellow gold in a round cut. But now I'm thinking colored stone and pear, diamond bezel set, white gold. I'll probably change my mind again in about 3.5 minutes. =] BTW, both rings, beauties.

I love the pear shape, but can never decide, do you wear it with the narrower end up or down? Both look great to me, I'm not sure I could ever decide!

I have a pear shaped ring and I LOVE it!

I always get comments about how beautiful and different it is.

This pic isn't my ring, but looks pretty similar Really digging the pear shape recently... : wedding 4ct TDW Pear Cut Diamond Ring (D, SI1) 14k Gold 1 1/4ct TDW Pear-cut Diamond Ring (D, SI1)

Oh, and the pointed end actually points out away from your body as to elongate the fingers :)

Here is a pic of my ring, but taken with an iphone, so sorry about the poor quality

AHHH! Your ring is so beautiful. That is essentially the reason I want a pear shape. What a stunner! I'm thinking morganite for a center stone.

@Goodie (1) I LOVE pear shaped stones - I have an amethyst that I love but I only rock it out as a cocktail ring every so often because it is large!!

    (2) Morganite is my favorite gemstone in the world!!!  I collect gemstones and about a year ago I discovered it - LOVE IT!!! I have a three stone morganite ring (oval cuts) set in white gold, but  I especially love how Morganite looks set in rose gold...

Iknow I've posted mine before and I wish I had a better close up one for ya but here it is. I LOVE IT! My fiance designed it. I thought i wouldnt like it being asymmetrical but i do not mind at all. I wear it with the point pointing toward my fingertip-- it's supposed to elongate, which helps!

For a while I really wanted a pear shaped. I was worried that I'd get sick of it so I went with a cushion cut but there will always be a place in my heart for the pear!

I have a pear shaped ring.  That was the one request I made to my husband when looking for rings for me.

My pear is set in platinum with 2 round diamons set on each side.  I paired it with up a platinum round sapphire and diamond stones.  I wanted to be completely different. :)

Is there a reason behind wearing the point towards your hand?  It seem that some of these picture show it the opposite.

I have one friend with one.  It's a beautiful cut!

For me, I wear mine with the point facing towards my hand because of personal preference the way it looks.  Curious to see what other people have to say.

I'm pretty positive I'd wear it facing towards my hand. I think it'd help balance the look of the ring once the wedding band was added.

Also. I totally agree @MrsK2b. I was watching a home shopping show one day and they had a round cut morganite with champagne diamonds set in rose gold. It was so nothing I was thinking of, but I like... NEEDED to own it, unfortunately, $650 on a whim isn't really doable. I talked about it for days, but didn't think to DVR it so when bf came home he could see it! Agh, I was kicking myself.

Thanks Goodie and Lillindy!  I love my ring too!

Definitely whichever way someone wants to wear the ring (pointing in or out) is fine, I think personal preference should outweigh rule of thumb :)

are there special wedding bands made to accommodate large pear-cut e-rings? my setting just isn't going to allow me to snuggle a wedding band up to my big sapphire pear-cut e-ring.  i looked around but can't seem to find much on the topic. help?

That's what I was kind of worried about, veganglam. I would maybe have something soldered on, to look like a wedding band. And then if you wanted to, you could also get a plain band for the days when you don't want to wear your e-ring.

BUT!!! I got my ring on New Years Day. =] Not a pear shape. Haha. But I am so insanely in love with it.

I have a pear-cut yellow sapphire (alas, it is in the shop being sized, so all I have is the stock photo).  I have read that Cartier stated a pear is to be worn with the pointed end pointing towards one's heart (which is how I wear mine), but the lady at Kay said some snarky bit about me being self-centered since I had it pointing at me.Really digging the pear shape recently... : wedding Cutout Ring

Yay!  I love my pear shape.  Its the perfect combo of classic and a little different.  I have gotten lots of comments and at the jewelry store they said pear is actually pretty rare, they don't sell many, all the more fun for us!

This is my pear ring, offset with 3 diamonds on each side.  The pear is an heirloom from FI's mom before she upgraded to a huuuuuge ring  :)  We're having trouble matching it with a wedding band, so we may be using the center stone for something else and re-designing the setting.  It will be hard to part with my unique ring!

I absolutely love my pear! I wanted a ring that looked like the Taylor-Burton diamond since I am an Elizabeth Taylor fanatic and he didn't let me down. I love her so much I named her! Excuse the horrible camera phone picture
