I have been on some other 'well known wedding websites' as well... some are rather... um... interesting. I haven't heard anything but supportive and encouraging words from the bees here, they take quite a bit of the panic out of weddings for me.
You have to be a complete pushy bitch to survive on the other site. Those with senority get the last word. I was encouraged to go see this certain florist. On the advice of the other "ladies" there I did. She was HORRIBLE. She had NO regard for a budget, didn't ask what flowers I wanted and just decided I would get what she wanted to give. Her quote was $700 OVER the price I am paying. I kept trying to tell people get a quote from my florist but they all bullied me to be quiet so I gave up. It wasn't worth my aggrivation!

SO funny! My friend is a photographer in a different area than I live in. She had a beautiful rant about The Knot yesterday:
Ok wedding people (brides and vendors) when the knot or wedding wire or any of those sites tell you that you should use 10% of your budget for photo AND video do you feel that reflects the quality you expect at the full wedding budget price point you are at? I think it's insane because you can have a nice 30k wedding which gives you a beautful venue, a good dj or band, awesome flowers the you have $1500 for photo and $1500 for video. I really think at $30,000 you are going to be looking for quality that matches the other parts of your wedding and will be really upset when you realize what you get for $1500. I think brides exspecually need to inform these wedding giants and tell them that they set an unrealistic expectation and are out of the loop! My morning venting...
I agree with her. That site is designed to make you feel inadequate about your wedding, your budget, your choices and your decisions.
My wedding is going to cost 7k soup to nuts and its going to be one of the most gorgeous weddings people have ever been to.....and people on the other site were disgusted by this....I am frugal yankee girl :)

@creativeplannertobee: I live IN Boston but my wedding is in Marshfield :). I have managed to create a picture perfect wedding in our area for 7k and that includes all of the attire for the bride and the groom for the day along with hair and make up etc...limo, flowers, photohgrapher, caterer etc.
MUCH kudos to my MOH for her help!

OMG! I know exactly what you are talking about. On the other wedding board, I asked if any women knew of places where they have a nice selection of 11 shoes and some in wides, and I got the bichiest responses! One lady even called me a liar when I said my local Macy's didn't carry 11s anymore!
