So about 4 years ago I went on medication and I gained 35 pounds. The meds has done wonders for me, but the weight gain.
I am a size 12 mostly, sometimes 14 (depending on brand). My Measurements are 43-34-44.
So I got my wedding dress that I love. It is a size 12 and a corset. I went for my first fitting and the lady doing me up kept commenting on how tiny my waist is. She said my dress fit great except my bust. The panel gapped like 1/2 inch at my bust ONLY so they said they will put in a larger panel…I am a 36D.
Well on the way home my mom goes “you better not put on an ounce or it will not fit!”
I am already sensitive about my weight and I feel so hurt by this and am so stressed. I have no clue what the back looked like on me and it was only us there. I thought I was ok cause the saleslady said it was only the bust but now I am thinking I am busting out and feel super fat.
I don’t know what to do I just feel so fat.

um, she’s rude and you need to ignore her.

The great thing about corsets is that you can pull it closed. If you gain 10lbs you’ll be fine. Don’t stress about it. You will look great on your wedding.

Moms can be overly critical in their quest for perfection. You love the dress and it flatters your body. Listen to the alterations lady, she wouldn’t have kept complimenting you if she didn’t believe it. No ones needs more negativity, especially during a stressful time.

@missjewels: Just tell your Mom, “One more comment like that and you’re reservation at The Retirement Castle will be confirmed.”

I wore a waist cinching corset underneath my corsetted dress (I wore two corsets pretty much) and it worked out great. I was afraid I wasn’t going to fit into my corset back dress either, but my girls squeezed me in there and when I couldn’t breathe well, it was tight enough.
I’d just shake it off if I were you.

@missjewels: Sorry your mom is being a jagoff. Mine loves being critical, too: if it’s not my weight, it’s my grown-out acrylic nails or roots. I remind her she’s no spring chicken when she acts like that, you should consider doing the same.
Your waist IS super tiny and I’d be willing to bet anything that corset dress looks incredible on you.

I’m petite and my dress has a zipper. I’m worried that I won’t fit in my dress!

@Hyperventilate: why didn’t i think of TWO corsets??
It was comforting to know I had a corset back and no matter if I lost 10 or gained 15 that dress was going to fit on my wedding day.
OP don’t let your mom get you down, I’ll bet shes feeling some jealousy over your tiny waist and big boobs!

@badabing88: +1 on the spring chicken comment. And everything else that you ever post. Haha

@missjewels: I don’t know your mom and if she regularly insults your weight or not.
But if my mom said that to me, I’d just be like, “Truth. Don’t let me eat rice when I get home.” Because at the end of the day, I know what size I am, I know the dress I picked was perfect on me when I first tried it on. It’s realistic for me to control my weight until my fittings and my wedding day.
I wouldn’t take offense, and I’d just watch my weight.
