crackktheskyy:  I’d call the cops. I called the cops once on a birthday party going on in my complex – it was around 8 pm at our complex’s clubhouse. The bass was SO HIGH (they had a DJ outside, wtf?)  that it was shaking my apartment building. My now-husband and I didn’t live together yet and it drove him SO FREAKING INSANE that he went home. The cops came, made them turn it down, and that was that.

Also – it’s a holiday weekend but I am a teacher and we have school tomorrow so I don’t think it’s truly a holiday for most people. My husband has to work as well.

It’s 8 pm, honey …. not 3 am.  I’m sure they’re not breaking any noise ordinances at this early hour.  Take off your granny nightgown and join in the fun.  Sounds like an opportune time to crash and grab some booze!

weatherbug:  I agree, call the cops. At least where I live (Australia), technically it’s not about the time of night – if it’s unreasonably loud, the cops can be called, at any hour.

In my country, yes, you would need a permit to close the street. I don’t see the harm in at least calling the police and letting them know what’s going on.

Plus, it sounds like there are lots of apartments so they won’t know who called.

crackktheskyy:  When I called, it was around 8 pm and I started it with, “I dont know if noise ordinances start any specific time but…he’s the situation”. The dispatcher told me that while “quiet hours” start at a certain time, if people are being ridiculously loud, it doesn’t matter regardless of what time of day it is.

Not all people work 9-5’s, so imagine if you worked an overnight shift and slept during the day and people were allowed to throw ragers all over the place.

Also – don’t think these people need to be rude to you – sure, its early, but if it’s interrupting you watching TV, that means it is LOUD.

Call the police.  I used to live in an apartment where the guy next door liked to blast his stereo at all hours.  I called the cops twice.  Once in the middle of the night, and once around lunch time.  I know that the police responded both times because I saw them.

Their having a wedding doesn’t give them the right to be assholes to the people living around there.  And, yes, people playing loud music are assholes.

It’s one night. *One* night to be inconvenienced in your life for someone else’s joy. This isn’t some kids partying when their parents are away or neighbors getting drunk off their asses and brawling. It’s someone’s wedding. You stated yourself that the events they hold there rarely causes a problem. One night. I’m sure it will be over soon and you can go back to your TV watching.

Instead of calling the cops can you call over there first? Maybe they don’t realize that it’s bothering other people. If they don’t respond appropriately then yes I would call the cops. I completely disagree with the other posters saying you need to suck it up because it’. A wedding. people need to learn that others lIves don’t stop just because you are getting married.

crackktheskyy:  Had my neighbor been blasting Josh Groban, maybe I would’ve been a teeny bit less angry because I like Josh Groban.  But I still would’ve called the cops.

These are the noises of joy and celebration!  Can you just tolerate  this for another hour or two?
