@kjo:  I’m also looking for cheap gift ideas.  I was thinking of putting together gift baskets of scented candles, lotions, shower gel, etc.  Possibly from bath & body works or another store like that.

@kjo:  You’ll probably get some interesting replies to this thread. The general opinion here seems to be your wedding party gifts need to be super personal and thought out months in advance (which can be a lot of added stress)

I think your idea of a gift set sounds lovely. If I were a bridesmaid I wouldn’t be doing it in hopes that the bride got me some awesome gift. It’s nice to thank your girls for being there with you on your special day (or if they’ve helped you during the process, which some do and some don’t) so I think anything you want to give them that won’t break your budget will be perfect in their eyes. A handwritten note can go a long way too.

I got my girls each an Alex and ani charm bracelet with a charm that reflected something they liked. They loved them.

So far I am half way through making my bridesmaids survival kits, with small items inside. I got the cosmetic bags at big lots on sale for $3.00 each and bought a sheet of iron on letter from Walmart for like $3 or $4 dollars. The larger canvas bag I got last summer from Dollar Tree. I also plan to get them presonalized robes to wear for hari and make-up the day of the wedding and a necklace.

i’m not sure where you are in ontario but they are located in london and deliver all over.  i got the starfish toggle bracelets for my neices (they helped us out with the wedding) and i was impressed with them.  i wished that i had ordered one for myself.  they were less than $15 each.

@LedeLady:  LOL yes!  I kind of ranted about this recently.  It’s not a birthday of our friends, it’s our wedding and we’re giving them gifts of thanks for being bridesmaids…possibly several ladies with the same role.  So IMO giving similiar or the same gifts to all the ladies is perfectly reasonable and expecting brides to Christmas shop for bridesmaids on top of throwing an entire wedding for everyone seems absurd…but that’s just my opinion.

I think your gifts sound lovely OP.  I’m getting my gals a wax burner and some melting wax.  Those things are really enjoyable IMO.  I got them for under 10$ with a home coupon for Fred Meyer, maybe you don’t have that in Canada.
