I like it a lot! I am having the same trouble with picking things for our house... I want the house to look like an issue of Country Living lol I think that the espresso dining table will look nice with the counters. Maybe you could add a punch of the green into the kitchen (especially if your kitchen/dining and living room all flow together) ? It is hard to combine two households with all of our new wedding gifts! Good luck!
That granite in the picture looks like it has a lot of tan in it to me. Granite is very versatile, and so I think no matter what color it is, it can match most different types of decor. I'm sure it will look great! Good luck & congrats!
Awwww Lees! I agree with @julialimei that granite is so versatile and it isn't just a solid black by the looks of it. I think your theme will be just fine and it sounds love :)
Oh girl I was picturing a full-on solid black, that will totally work!! Just put a bowl or some accents on the counters that are cream/green and it will pull the lighter colors out of the granite. That's one of the best parts about granite, you really can use it with SO many different color combos! :) Sounds like you're jumping right into nesting after the wedding, it's so much fun to make your house a home, have fun and take lots of pictures for us! :D
Thank you all ladies! I'm so glad that black is going to look okay. I just still can't help but think that the other granite would have looked better :( But you're right, putting pops of lighter colors may work..so we'll see how it goes. I am glad, though, that the kitchen is kind of away from the living room so they don't necessarily HAVE to tie completely together.
Thank you ladies once again! Yall made me feel lots better :)
It can be hard to get everything done and feel like "oooh I should've done this...or that..." I've totally gone through that with our house. The thing is, just focus on the great parts, just like the rest of us said we didn't notice that the granite has black in it, most likely your guests won't either. Just enjoy having such a beautiful home, there may be things you don't 100% like but that's just something you can turn into a long-term goal (trust me, I've got PUH-LENTY of those haha!). You obviously have wonderful taste so don't stress too much! :)
Honey check out our kitchen. We put black granite countertops in, and I think your style is very similar to mine. Our floors are a very dark espresso wood too, and I think it works. Our accent color (once we recieve wedding gifts) is red.
Instead of loading the pictures, I'm giving you the blog link :)

PS It really is a beautiful kitchen! I'm sure once you start adding your personal touch to it, you'll feel better about it.
I think almost every color of granite goes with almost everything...I love how versatile it is!
Plus, it will look a LOT different once there are are other items on the counter. For example, I absolutely HATED the backsplash in my first house and did not think I could live with it. Well, once I had all my canisters, etc. up, I barely thought about it.
i like the darker color better, personally. if you wanted to lighten up the look of it, why not get some nice white (or another matching color) chargers and accessories for your counter tops (say, in the corner) or on top of the cabinets? Plus you could always add a backsplash.
When you were saying black granite, I was picturing the typical solid black, to me that pic looks more tan anyway :)
I also like a country style kitchens, and don't know if you want to do this....but you could paint the cabs white! I love the look of white cabs, so country fresh!
I think it looks great. It's a nice, neutral type of granite that appeals to everyone. When you put things in your home like cabinets, granite, big-ticket type items, personally, I am always concerned about retail value. I don't want the big downer in my home to be the very-uniquely-me permanent or expensive item i just had installed b/c i know not everyone shares the same taste. Your "look" will look great with the granite!
If it helps, I've lived in two condos, onw similiar to the color you have now, and black. The black granite was a PAIN IN THE A$$ to clean. It showed every breadcrumb- every streak- we even used special (read: expensive) granite cleaner and it still streaked!
The color you chose has the opposite and easier problem- you can't tell if there are crumbs on the counter until you look very closely. As long as you clean regularly- that's an easy solution.
You made the right choice!
I think it looks great and definitely does not look BLACK! Can you tell me what color that granite is? We're looking to redo our kitchen countertops and want to do a dark one, but black is waaay to dark for us!
I love it. It looks very good. My FI does granite work and that doesnt look like black it looks more look the giallo vicenza colored granite. But I think it looks great in your kitchen.

I was able to choose from about 4 different ones and then narrowed it down to about 2, which was a beige-ish color & a black one. The owner was originally going to go with black before I made a choice, but decided to go ahead with the black anyway, because they said with our stainless steel appliances, it would look better.
I have no doubt that it will look good...my only concern is that my style is like vintage modern, or country you could say. So, I'm thinking with my fresh green & white colors in my living room and with my dark espresso dining room table, the black won't look too good with my decor.
I guess I'm just looking for comfort I guess. Here's a picture of the kitchen finished:
What do yall think? Do you think my country style/fresh airy feel will be okay??
