It was a wonderful day. I’m very happy with my venue and my venders. Honestly, I don’t think I would change a thing.
The rehearsal dinner down poured, and the next day was projected to be much of the same. But since we had a rain plan, I wasn’t too concerned. But if I was being completely honest with myself, I really wanted to get married outside. Can’t change the weather though!
The next morning, we met at the salon early for hair and makeup. I have a ton of hair, so in my trials, I tried to use the massive volume to my advantage. But, that unfortunately means hair took a long time.
They did a fantastic job, but we left probably an hour later than scheduled. Fortunately, I added in some buffer, so when we got to the venue, instead of having an hour to relax, we immediately had to get dressed.
Meanwhile, the photographer took pictures of our details.
(Someone immediately pointed out the typo to me. Ugh! Oh well! if that’s my biggest regret, it was a darned good wedding)
At this point, we were just about on time. We loaded into the car, and then realized we left one of the bridesmaids behind… and all of the flowers. I apologized like crazy and she laughed, citing “bride brain.” She brought the flowers and herself, and met us at the park.
(Pausing to hit submit, since I accidently hit “back” at this point that last time I wrote my recap)

We left the park and headed back to the venue right on time. When we got to the parking lot, it was filled with guests arriving, so we snuck me in through the back.
On cloud 9 from our photo shoot, reality is dumped on me like ice cold water. The first three people I see tell me:
The people setting up the slide show that was going to play during cocktail hour never showed up.
I had to make the call right now if we were having it inside or outside
Our shuttle wasn’t coming
My mother-in-law jumped in as soon as she saw my face fall, and asked if I wanted her to fix it. I said yes. She located the slide show people (they were outside, told they weren’t allowed in by the staff) and get them in. She then made the call that we were waiting for the shuttle and going on with the outside ceremony. I love her: she saved my sanity.
The speeches made me laugh and cry.
The dance with my father was pretty special. About 3 years before my wedding he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. He was given 2 years to live. He chose to fight it, and he’s completely cancer free and whole again. His last surgery was a month before the wedding, which made this dance extra special.
The garter toss was pretty hilarious. Since the girl who won the bouquet toss had a boyfriend of 6 years that she lived with, everyone was respectful… except one guy… who didn’t understand what the garter meant. It turned into a hilarious brawl, but the right guy won.
I’m going to skip the dance party pictures, but there are a TON! Everyone was in a great mood!
The main photography regret I have is that one of my bridesmaids just had a baby. Since the baby was with us all day, I thought the photographer would get some pictures with her. I didn’t spell it out, so I didn’t get any. Oh well. My bridesmaid took a ton of her little girl all dressed up for the wedding, so I’ll steal from her.
It was such a fun day and I’m so glad we did it… but you couldn’t pay me enough to plan another wedding!

howtobeawife: Thank you! I kept being wishy washy on a theme, so I ended up just doing things I like
