- Wedding: June 2009
If it hadn’t been for the handful of people in my house, it may have actually felt like a normal Saturday. I woke up at 7, had my cup of coffee, checked email/facebook/weddingbee/etc and got functioning. And then the slew of people woke up and milled around. THIS is not normal in my household. At 730am we headed to my SIL’s salon to get pretty. I left dad at home to chill with my kitties and handed him our itinerary.
Curl, tease, spray, curl tease, spray. You get the idea. We’re there til about noon. SIL brought lots of fatty goodies for us to snack on and we brought water and fruit. It was as smorgasbord. Another bridal party was there, too, but they had champagne. They got a *little* crazy. And the bride had the craziest, weirdest, ugliest hairstyle. It was insane. Even my SIL the stylist said it was a bad idea! No pics of that, sorry!
On to Nordstrom for makeup! See pic 1 (sorry i don’t know how to insert very well since i’m uploading jpegs)
Snag. We were supposed to have 4 people doing our makeup. Ummm, we had 2. They’re running quite late. But that’s ok, I built in 1.5 hours of buffer time. So we got some joe instead and hung around. We sent half the bridal party ahead of us back to my house to set out lunch. Sam’s Club sandwiches, fruit, and chips. Fuel!
It’s 130 pm. HOMEWARD BOUND! We get home at 2. Itinerary says we gotta leave my house at 330 to get to the site at 4. We’e not messing this up. Yes, I made up an itinerary in Microsoft word and handed out lots and lots of copies. It’s so obvious, right? (see the 2nd pic)
We get home. Oh crap, gotta load up the cars with EVERYBODY’S stuff. Since we did our own florals, centerpieces, water bottles, decorations, etc, the bridesmaids who ate first shoved it in there, along with their bags, sleepover bags, and dresses. Wow that was a lot of stuff. Then, the last half of us crammed lunch down. It’s now 300pm. Remember my itinerary? We had to LEAVE at 330.
And Dad hadn’t showered yet. And he was mad at us. Apparently we were supposed to call when we left Nordies so he could shower. Whaaat? Yeah, my thoughts exactly. So I crab at him to go shower and put his tux on RIGHT NOW. My photographer goes downstairs to take pics of my dress. Awww, ain’t it pretty? Why didn’t anyone tell me to buy a satin hanger for my bridal gown? Anyways, dad gets out of the shower and my photographer almost gets to see a full nudie show. Oops. Not my fault! Don’t walk around MY house without your pants on, dad! My house. Clothes required. (PS that crazy room is a room downstairs my parents said they’d decorate for us. They did it in an African Safari theme. Whatever!) See pic 3
OK so basically my parents made me half an hour late because they weren’t ready on time. They took forever. I wasn’t too thrilled and I wanted to scream. I almost left with my photographer, but I felt like I couldn’t do that. Every 5 minutes, they were just *so close* to being ready. Sigh. We only had from 4-530 to take pictures and b/c of this, my girls and I couldn’t go outside b/c there were too many people there by now. So we only had the one hour as we arrived at 430. Bummer. But, things happen. Couldn’t expect the day to go seamlessly, could I?
The 4th pic is a pic of me and my fave girls before we get dressed.
Getting dressed was a hurried thing, to say the least. Mom had to dress all my bridesmaids, as she made their dresses and they had to be put on and tied just right by her, or they looked weird. So i stood around in my undies. I have a lovely picture of that. Eek. So, I leave you with the last one. I’m being classy and holding my boobs up and we’re discussing how to lace it up so I don’t have a falling out. See, this is nice, right? Mother daughter moment while I deal with my blessed busom. While we have this lovely large, plantation bedroom, the guys are in a tiny bathroom. Ha! Suckers. We stayed in the plantation house and took lots of bride+bridesmaid and bride+family pictures. Next up, the EJS 1 hour countdown to “go time”.
