- Wedding: September 2013
I’m back hive! It’s been a crazy few weeks for me! We closed on our house and received the keys the Friday afternoon before the wedding, got married Saturday, then flew off to St. Lucia on our Honeymoon! We spent the last week packing/moving/unpacking into our new house, and still have lots to do!
I don’t have my professional pics back yet, but here’s a couple of “sneak peeks” our awesome photographer sent!
OK–so, I’ll get started on the things that went wrong. At the time, I was a little upset about some of them, but I realized later that people probably never noticed or didn’t know.
Our DJ–Our DJ was a family friend who DJs on the side. I had actually wanted a friend of mine to do it, but this guy had done my 16th and 21st birthdays and my mom felt he should do it, so instead of arguing with her about it, I just let her have her way.
-For the recessional, he was supposed to play “All you need is love” by the Beatles, instead, “Canon in D” came on (we used that for the processional) as DH and I were announced and headed down the aisle…then the correct song played as the BP exited.
-After we had walked back up the aisle, DH and I planned to actually go back row to row and greet our guests as we let them out of their seats. During the time we were doing this, the DJ started announcing the BP (as in, the BP entrance for the reception) because on his itinerary, it was not marked “During the reception.” He stopped after our parents names were announced, so a lot of people didn’t realize he had made a mistake.
-When it came time to do the bouquet toss and garter toss…our DJ was missing. I was told by our best man that he went to change clothes. ugh.
-On that note, over half of our 10 person bridal party and some guests had changed into street clothes by the end of the night. I was a little upset because a lot of pictures that I’ve seen so far have random people in shorts and t-shirts, even basketball shorts, while DH and I are in our wedding garb. Not cute…looks like we crashed a gym class…
-DH’s cousin had told us she was not coming, so when she showed up, her and her mom had to sit at one of the tables at the back because we had a seating chart in which they were not included. I’ve heard his Aunt was very upset about this, and she and DH’s cousin left during his dance with his mom. MIL was very upset with her sister for leaving so early.
-Lastly, DH and I were so caught up in everything else, we completely forgot to go take pictures at our DIY Photobooth, but I’m told that many guests enjoyed it. LOL
The moral of this post is: Thing will go wrong/not exactly as planned. At this point (on your BIG day) they are beyond your control. Don’t stress it!
