- Wedding: May 2011
I’m a sandwich! Wait, that’s not right… My last name is now a homonym for hoagie.
Week leading up to wedding:
Riding mower died, tried to fix riding mower but riding mower ended up sparking like mad everytime it was touched.
Parents’ minivan (essential for getting everyone to the reception and to the airport the following day) broke down.
Blade fell off of push mower while I was mowing because a bolt broke (mercifully, it just fell off instead of flying off, in which case, I would have no feet.)
Photographer’s route to wedding flooded, and her son broke his hand.
Pull string detached from a weedeater.
Mom put a stump through the push mower my brother loaned them.
FI mowed down both my dad’s mayapple patch and a young mimosa tree.
Maid of honor’s computer (which all of her non-backed-up work files are on) died, along with her info on how to get to my house, and then her plane was very delayed.
Best man’s flight came in during the middle of the rehearsal dinner at the airport 2 hours away – only found a ride for him two days before (now-SILs, ages 19 and 17).
Groomsman 2 (now-BIL) decided to go with to pick up best man and NOT follow the directions we gave him but followed the GPS directions we’d told him were wrong – the ride back took 4 hours since they got lost multiple times (we eventually had them pull over to the side of the road and went to have them follow us back.)
Finished BM2’s dress 3 days prior in addition to mowing/weeding/weedeating 10 acres, cleaning 2 houses, and prepping to feed and house an extra 14 people (and that’s aside from rehearsal dinner prep) because BM2 didn’t have the balls to tell me she didn’t have the money for a dress when I could have ordered one (she just got back from a trip to England to meet her youngest grandkid – I understand money’s tight!)
It wasn’t really a big thing, but I found out at my rehearsal dinner that I almost had to drag people to get things done on time.
Wedding itself: Went well. Officiant worked in a bunch of Princess Bride references. He stumbled over his words a few times (and mispronounced my last name, then corrected himself), but I felt more comfortable for it.
A few photos…
