Ok, so my detail recap was about how I loved everything. My ceremony recap is more about avoiding my mistake. This is were most–not all–bloopers happened in my wedding. Here’s some highlighted.
If you’re having an outdoor ceremony, don’t start late. My cousin-hairdresser decided to change my hair at the last minute and by the time I got out there people were baking and my fiance’s shirt was see-through.
I did not think I had to tell people not to wear sunglasses. I was wrong. My stepmother wore them the entire ceremony and for all family pictures.
Remind people to smile as they walk down the aisle and look up. This makes for much nicer pictures.
I loved my “Here Comes the Bride” Parasol even though I don’t have a decent picture of it. More importantly though, remind friends to stand up when the bride comes down the aisle, put in decoys. My aisle was short, and only a few awkward looking people stood up for me. Also, make sure whoever is doing the music comes to the rehearsal dinner.
Remind the people in your court that their faces throughout the ceremony will show up in 90% of your pictures.
If you have a designated photographer, make sure to let them know that they can be aggressive. Here is my uncle completely ruining our first kiss picture, even AFTER I discretely told him at the beginning of the ceremony when he shoved a camcorder in our face to please clear people’s view.
If you’re thinking about a sand ceremony, do it. Ours was beautiful. But, have a practice run. We miscalculated the sand and ended up with only half a vase full.
And lastly, remember all these “look up, smile, and give the photographer good shots” tips yourself. I was afraid of tripping (lace train and stilleto heels on grass) and looked down the entire way out of the ceremony.
