One of my best friends is going to be induced next week, and a few of us are going over there tonight for dinner to wish her well and catch up before her kiddo comes. I wanted to bring a little gift, but wasn’t sure what would be most appreciated at this point in her pregnancy. We threw her a baby shower last month where everything was for the baby (as it should be!) but I was thinking she might appreciate something just for her, but I have no idea what. Any thoughts?
Thanks so much!

BotticelliLove: honestly I just wanted everyone to leave me alone the days leading up to my induction 🙂 but clearly your friend doesn’t feel thay way since she’s having y’all over 🙂 maybe a little hospital kit (Chapstick, hair ties, gum, hard candies) i think at a certain point in her induction/labor they’ll cut her off from food so maybe having some little treats would be nice (?) I’m totally just throwing ideas out there – I would say trash magazines but i never looked at mine. My two favorite things (besides all of the carbs I packed and ate) were a blue tooth speaker for my iPhone and an external battery pack to charge my phone w/out having to put on an actual wall charger because my phone was blowing up while I was in the hospital.

my friends don’t have kids yet, but my mum always cooks and freezes some easy dinners (lasagna, shepard’s pie, muffins, banana bread etc) that just need to be defrosted or heated for the couple to put in their freezer. She’s also bought new parents a few hours of molly maid – that one was a huge hit 🙂
you could also give her a gift certificate for a massage or facial, something to pamper her when she feels up to going after the baby is born and she wants a little quiet time.

A gift basket with a bunch of yummy snacks and little bottles of juice would be the best thing. Things she can eat with one hand while holding the baby! I was induced a week and a half ago and then ended up with a c-section so we were in the hospital for 5 days. Hospital food sucks, so it was so great when we had a mini fridge and shelf in our room full of yummy snacks to munch on throughout the day while we were there. I also found that the juice was so great in the middle of the night when I was exhausted from Breastfeeding non-stop and needed a little sugar boost.

i second the hospital care package with some trial size shampoos, chapstick–yes!, etc. There’s nothing better than feeling “normal” after hours of hard and sweaty labor. Also, this might not be appropriate but I loved that my mom came home ahead of us and put clean sheets on my bed and picked up around the house. Made it nice to come home.

I asked for a bottle of wine lol. Definitely had a small glass the night I got home from the hospital. I think a frozen meal would be nice. I was induced and not allowed to eat anything, but my hospital had a nourishment room full of juice, milk, cereal, bread, coffee, Popsicles, and yogurt/pudding…so I didn’t need any snacks really.
