Instead of Luau theme or Mexican theme… why dont you have a “tropical” theme? Like brightly colored flowers, etc.  then you can still serve the Mexcian food.  I mean.. Mexico is kind of trporical.. right?

Do a Riviera Maya, Cabo, and Cancun theme!  AKA tropical Caribbean beach in Mexico theme!

Is the ceremony at the same place as the reception? Why does everyone have to leave? Sounds like a catholic gap, so unless you need to have the gap and if it’s in the same place, please don’t have a gap.

I agree with g-ma. If you are having luau decorations, you need to have luau food. If you have a theme, then everything has to follow that theme.

Use your ideas but start calling the items by different names and Grandma will be happy.

There are beach huts in Mexico- they are called palapas

and torches on the beach- just stop calling them tiki torches

Yeah I’m thinkin a luau with mexican food is a little weird LOL. But I agree with PP’s that you could do just a beach theme with Mexican food. Wear a Lei for yourself if you want 🙂
