    Hey Hive,

I'm working on my invitation wording, and need some feedback on my reception card. Our feel is rustic-elegant - the ceremony main invite card has pretty traditional wording, but given our somewhat casual vibe, I'd like the reception card to be a little more fun and whimsical - I want people to know they're in for a good time! The reception will be under tents in my in-laws backyard - they have 60 acres at the base of a mountain.

    Here's where I'm stuck:

    • Should I include the bit about carpooling? My in-laws are clearing out space for cars to park, but I'm a little concerned about space - is it tacky to suggest it? Should I leave that to the website?
    • Is there anything you'd suggest to spice it up a bit or make it more fun?
    • Should I mention that it will be outside so people know to bring a jacket if its chilly? I do this on the website, but I know not everyone is going to look at it. If I put this on the invite, how should I phrase it?
    • Any other suggestions?

Go ahead - tear it apart ladies! Or even better, if you have a reception card, share what YOU are doing!

Okay I cannot get it to upload for the life of me...here's what it says:

Following the ceremony, please join us on

    Local Mountain

    for an evening of

    Dinner, drinks, and dancing

    at the Smith home:

    1111 Weddingbee Road

    Anytown, USA

(Directions are available on the back side of this card, and on our website at [link removed at request of poster])

The reception will begin at 5:00pm, and will conclude when the dance floor is empty. Don’t forget your dancing shoes!

Parking is available, but please carpool if possible!

How many spaces will you have available compared to how many families/groups of guests? I think that makes a big difference. If you think it might be tight for just a couple cars, then I would just leave it alone. If there is a true lack of space, you might need another solution. Could you possibly offer transportation from the ceremony site or hotel? Or maybe just tell close friends or family to carpool by word of mouth?

Why don't you say "limited parking available" instead of straight out asking that people carpool? I would probably prefer to carpool with friends anyway.

I think you need to let people know it will be outside. Maybe like:

Following the ceremony, please join us on

    Local Mountain

for dancing and dining in the fresh air

Reception begins at 5 o'clock and ends when the cock crows!

home of Mr. and Mrs. Smith

    1111 Weddingbee Road

    Anytown, USA

Please note limited parking is available

    I like Cinnamon Roll's wording. (I think there's a trend here....you might be a wording guru cinnamon...)
