I have come accross an issue with the chairs for my reception. We have already rented 100 white wooden garden chairs for the ceremony at the lake on the Country Club where our reception will be, but since we do not want to lug the chairs into the ballroom for the reception, we have to figure out another option. The chairs provided are ugly green padded chairs with gold metal backing and legs. They are simply out of the question. I cannot afford chivari chairs, but the white wooden garden chairs would be the best option, as I think chair covers are hideous. The only problem is knowing whether or not garden chairs will be tall enough for banquet tables. Has anyone used or will be using the white wooden garden chairs with a padded seat for an inside reception with banquet tables? They seem much shorter than the chivari chairs which the country club told us are most often used in their ballroom. Should I risk having guests eat in too short chairs, or give in and rent the incredibly tacky chair covers? Help!!

Get a measurement of the garden chairs from the rental company, and a measurement of the tables. That should help you decide!

We’re using the white, wooden, padded chairs at our reception with the banquet tables. If you are worried about it, I think floridagal had a good idea about asking for measurements of the chairs and tables just to make sure. Good luck!

chairs look awesome when they are full of family and friends, and they look pushed in to the table before that. I have never in my life noticed chairs unless they were amazingly uncomfortable.

Struggling with the EXACT same issue, cfootit. There’s no way I can pay for chair covers or extra chair rentals, so we’re either sticking with the green and gold chairs or lugging the white chairs inside. Not sure what we’ll end up doing. I just keep reminding myself of what vistagirl says — no one really notices chairs during the event! It’s only all the wedding porn we look at that makes them seem so important!

So today I found out that the chairs at the Country Club are 35 inches tall, and the White Garden chairs are about 31 inches tall. Will 4 inches make that much of a difference???
I am really not crazy about the chair covers option. I want more of a simple classic look rather than fruffy wedding with bows and satin…
