does it have to be a “wedding” dress? Department stores these days carry tons of “wedding” dresses, especially short white cocktail dresses. I’ve seen a lot of cute ones at Nordstroms and Bloomingdales.

I loved my Maggie dress, but the week before my wedding I went with my Maid/Matron of Honor to David’s Bridal just to peek around. I found a GREAT tea-length dress that was under $100 and was so comfortable to wear for late-night dancing. I definitely recommend checking them out, especially now that prom seasons is about over, they may have an even bigger variety of discounted dresses.

I’d agree with not trying to order an actual wedding dress. I bought my reception dress at Nordstrom for under $200 and they had a ton to choose from. I also saw a bunch of white and ivory dresses on bcbg.com today; maybe try there?

I wound up buying my reception dress from Dillards. They had a great selection of ivory and white dresses with bling or anything you can imagine for around $200.
