I won’t because I love my gown too much. I’m also having a really short ceremony and my dress is easy to walk and sit in, so it would be pointless. It’d be fun to have two dresses though!

I will only get to wear my dress once so I’m going to wear the hell out of it all night.

However, the wedding I was at this weekend, the brides back is now all ripped up from wearing a big heavy lace up back dress all night. It started to bother her mid afternoon and by 1:30am when she took it off she was bleeding on her back. Yikes! I bet she wishes she had a reception dress

I don’t think it’s worth the cost, and I don’t think any reception dresses are prettier than my actual wedding dress. I’ve waited 10 months to wear it, and damnit I am wearing it all night!! 🙂

I am.  Not right away – I’ll be changing after 9 so I can dance more easily.

I do love my wedding dress – but I love my reception dress too.  It’s sexier and FI loves it.

I would’ve considered it IF a) my budget was much larger than it was or b) I was having a summer wedding because my dress is heavy satin!

I was going to at first but during the planning process i chose not to go that route and honestly its due to the fact that I have NO time what so ever to change lol! 😀

i don’t undestand this new fad. the longest ceremony i’ve ever been to was one hour, so i don’t understand why would you waste money on a dress you can only wear for such a short time? plus, i absolutely love my dress and i only get to wear it one day so i’m going to wear it as much as i can!

to each her own!  You’ve found something that works for you.  Others think differently.  That’s what makes these boards so wonderful.  We can all learn from each other.

there’s a common misconception that one changes into her reception dress immediately after the ceremony.  That’s not necessarily true.  I’ll be wearing my wedding dress for many hours.  I don’t feel my reception dress (or my wedding dress for that matter) is a “waste of money”

I had a going away dress to change into so my mom could take my dress straight home which I ended up changing into towards the end of the night. People kept stepping on my bustle and it kept coming un-done.
