I voted Stonegate, but it really depends on your priorities.

I know you didnt specifically address this, but will most of your guests be willing to drive an extra hour to La Sala? I know that has really limited my own venue search because I know many of the guests on my side will not be willing to travel that far. Along the same lines, if you expect a lot of guests to drink, do you really want to ask them to drive that far?

I agree with you that the style of La Sala looks awesome, but I’m just not sure it’s worth having to trim the guest list that much and going over budget. I know you said the Stonegate looks nicer online, but the picture on the website really looks good inside and out. It’s unfortunate that it is so close to the nail salon and the liquor store, but I’m sure your guests won’t be focused on that – it looks great inside and thats where the party is, so that’s what is important. And you can always use some of the money you save on cool, modern decor for Stonegate.

It looks like you can use your own caterer, so that means you can still have amazing food, even if it isnt at your first choice venue. (maybe you can even use the caterer that supplies to La Sala?)

It seems like it is mostly just the exterior of the buildings that truly set the two venues apart – which doesnt seem like its worth the financial difference to me.

Is there a park nearby or anywhere within a short drive that would let you take some nice outdoor pictures? Even if you just know someone who lives nearby and has a very pretty yard/garden? Or if you are willing to do a first look, then you, fiance and photographer (and maybe wedding party) could go somewhere earlier in the day to get amazing outdoor pictures~

So, for everything I’ve talked about, I would go with Stonegate, but if you really feel like you are settling and going to be unhappy with Stonegate, then by all means, keep looking for another venue. I’m sure you’ll be able to find something that fits your style AND your budget!

    PS – Yay Michigan Weddings!

ok, looking around more, I think Stonegate might require their catering?? I guess I misunderstood “On-site/Off-site Catering.” Have you tried their food yet? What did you think of it?

This is a tough one! I love A. Maybe if you chose A you won’t have to worry about your guest list because you may have less that rsvp yes since it is further away.

I don’t know what the cost is for the two places you have looked at, but I just thought I would let you know I found this:  I don’t know if it is more or less expensive.  But it is something to check out if you would like.  🙂  Rhonda
