Is the beach venue indoor or outdoor? If outdoor, is there a backup? I would never book an outdoor venue w/o a plan B.
As for your family, I would ask myself two questions:
1. Even if it isn't very convenient for them, would most of them still attend the beach venue anyway?
2. For those who would not attend due to the distance, would I be hurt by their absence?
Once family is there, they will have a great time either way and forget about the drive!
Our venue is 1.5 hrs from our hometown and I actually have my fingers crossed that that will help trim the guest list significantly.

hi ladies,
yes, need to start thinking of recepcion location and i'm torn, very indecisive.
My dream has always been this beachtown where my family has a house, in a venue with a glorious view, and at sunset, but it's not convenient for my extended family and guests because it essentially means they have to spend a night there (even though it's only a 2hour drive from town).
Thus what is preferable, going with a convenient in-town location, which could also be nice, or going for my dream place? Have in mind that in my dream beach location, the weather would be risk, meaning if it's not sunny it's not the same.
thanks ladies!
