Hello Hive ,
I am not really sure if this is the correct section to post this question but here we go . My vision for my wedding reception is to transform our ballroom into an enchanted crystal forest (lol) . I plan on DIY my manzanita branches centerpieces and the vision that i have is similar to the pictures below , however i would add hanging flameless votives .
My question is which crystal strands to buy , I initially wanted to buy the ones below from Save on Crafts but am not sure how many would i need per tree . I plan on making about 7 of these gorgeaous tree and wanted to buy 5 sets of 30 foot long (one set is 19$) . Would this be enough?
This is a more cost effective but am afraid it would look too cheap . .This comes in 99ft and are $16.00
Which would you buy if you were in my shoes ? The first one is more elegant and the second one is more budget friendly .
If 5 sets of the 1 st one would be enough , i would buy them but i am not sure . Please help me .

I bought ones similar to the second set and I think once you add that many to the tree it won’t look chincy. But I am also on a tight budget.

I think that the first set is going to look better. Its just not as budget friendly…

I am using culry willow branches and dangling “bling”. We went to walmart and bought Bi Cone Crystal Faceted Beads and pearls and I strung my own. We bought large crystals from Michaels to finish them off. It turned out being really cheap and I think they turned out great.
The bags of beads at walmart are 3.99 and at this point I have used 2 bags of facted and 1.5 bags of pearls and made 300 feet of beaded string.
My pictures dont do them justice but it gives you an idea…

I actually bought the crystals from save-on-crafts (for my wishing tree). I like them a lot and I personally don’t think they look cheap at all (and definitely not when they are strung up on the branches and with “mood lighting” at the venue).
The 30 foot strand is HUGE and although my crystal tree is going to be pretty big, I think (1) of the 30-foot strands will be big enough for my one tree (which is really kind of two trees). So the point is, you might not even need (5) of #2, you might only need like 3. Thing about save-on-crafts is that their shipping prices suck, and there is really not much of a discount if you order it all at once or make two separate shipments (you could calculate it out just to be sure).
Another benefit is that since you are doing multiple trees, you can just disconnect the metal rings to end a strand and start on a new tree.
Hope that helps a little!

I think the second crystals look really cheap. Go with the first ones. You could always try to sell the crystals afterward!

I love these!!! Do you have any pics of a completed one???

I used real swarovski crystals. They make such a huge difference. When you add the votives in them they create rainbows in the room from the light. Here are the ones I made. I’m selling all my swarovski crystals for them too if you are interested just send me a pm. I have all my stuff listed in the classifieds also.

Hey, I can help! I sell flowers to DIY brides, and Manzanita is on of my favorites!
Check out our website: http://WWW.FLOWERMOXIE.COM
I also provide videos on how to do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WVl4hYTs0s

If you need larger branches, or branches only I can get you this. The most important thing to know when working with branches is that they’re pretty heavy and can tip easily, so they need to be in something solid.
I like floral foam. Rocks tend to shift, and using that spray insullation is a complete mess (saw this in Pinterest)
