I wasn't sure whether to post this in destination, music or reception, but since it's mostly about music, here it is...

I'm having a small destination wedding in Puerto Rico - as of right now about 35 people will be there. It will be a mix of older family members who most likely won't dance and a few of our friends who may or may not dance. I'm completely struggling with what to do about reception music. I'd like to have the option of dancing, cause otherwise, what do you do after dinner is over? and I have the room for 4-5 hours. But would it be weird to have a live band or a DJ for dancing and then only have about 10 people dancing? What if nobody dances? We've thought about doing the ipod thing, but I don't really want to have to worry about set up etc.

Any thoughts? Anyone else having a small wedding and still having dancing?

I'd make sure to at least have a 1st dance with your husband, arrange for nice music during dinner, then pick it up with some songs that are more upbeat that you could potentially dance to but are nice to hear regardless.

Maybe you can find a good DJ and explain your concerns. Then you could have them feel it out at the time - play dance music if people are eager to dance, switch to some more mellow music if people seem to want to chat. That way, you can just have the DJ read the crowd and you don't have to worry about it. I'd just make sure they understand what types of music you like.
