hi, i'm in the same boat--trying to think of songs that are neither too upbeat nor too sleepy for a non-dancing reception.
here are some that i'm going to play at different times (separating up-tempo from down-tempo and whatnot):
those are some of them. what songs have you picked since then? i'd love some ideas!
This is the playlist I gave to my DJ. This along with his own picks thrown in had the dance floor packed the whole night. Granted we had a lot of younger people at the wedding, most of the adults danced too. I ended up ok'ing the electric slide and the cupid shuffle that night because we got so many requests for them and they both packed the floor!!

Hey Ladies!
We are having our reception at a nice cafe that is a mile down the road from the church we're getting married at & happens to be owned by the church. We're serving cake and hor doerves (sp?). There won't be dancing because there won't be room and the church won't allow it. However, I am making an iPod playlist to be played during the reception. The only problem is that I've been so busy with wedding planning for the last 9 months, I've been distracted and haven't updated my iPod as often as I used to with current songs. I'd LOVE to hear your ideas for my playlist. Since there won't be dancing, I'm going to probably go with more laid back songs vs. dance music. The songs I already have in mind span from classics ("The Way You Look Tonight") to oldies ("ABC" by Jackson 5) to Top 40 ("1234" by Plain White Tees". Please help!!!
