We are doing things a little our of order for our reception: the first dance is a little later in the evening, doing an anniversary dance for the couple married the longest and a few other “special things” Had anyone made a program for the reception or a timeline so the guests know what is happening–or should we just let them be totally surprised. I hate them waiting around for things to “happen” and they dont happen during the normal order of a reception.

I haven’t been to a wedding with a reception program before, but I understand not wanting to feel like people are just waiting around to see what happens next. I’d say it’s a cute idea. Maybe set it on the place setting/seat at the table?

I think programs are a great idea, especially if you’re doing something that you think might be out of the ordinary for your guests. It definitely couldn’t hurt! We handed ours out at the ceremony, but having them on each dinner plate is great as well!

I’ve never seen them before, but can understand why you’d want them to make your guests more comfortable. If you’re loooking to save paper/time/money, you could add a page to the wedding program. Or write down the reception timeline on a board by the escort cards. Just thoughts.
