Our reception site doesn’t sponsor any linens, plates, cups, or flatware and I’m having a heckuva time thinking through things!!
We don’t have the capacity to wash all the dishes in time to get them back to the rental place, so renting (could be) out. Not to mention its expensive.
I’ve looked into disposable tableware, but I cringe at the idea of making that much waste with the pretty plastic dishes!!
Paper plates, while a little more "green", seem to be a little more tacky looking and tend to break easily under heavy foods.
What would (did) you do for tableware??

Most rental places (at least the ones I have used), you dont have to wash the dishes, only scrape off the food and place them back in the crate they came in. Glasses just have to be emptied. I would check with some different catering companies and ask what their policy is on dish-washing and if they require it. They will (or should) always arrive on site cleaned and ready to use as well so you dont have to worry about washing them before hand.
They do have very nice "silver" flatware that is plastic but actually looks like silver. You can tell when you hold it that its not because its so light but it does give off the appearance if you want to set the table with them.
Id also suggest talking to your venue and asking what they recommend, as Im sure they deal with all the time if they dont supply any of the mentioned items.
