I know a couple places in the berkeley area, I don't know if it would be too far for you.

The Doubletree hotel on the Berkeley Marina... I'm pretty sure they have a chinese menu
And also, the Rincon center in SF... the atrium looks beautiful

those are the only one I can think of right now. Hope this helps!

Koi Palace in Daly City - http://www.koipalace.com/
East Ocean in Emeryville - http://www.hongkongeastocean.com/ (not the best looking website but the food is good!)
Yank Sing in San Francisco - http://www.yanksing.com/
I second Yank Sing in San Francisco. It's upscale and food is nice.
I went to see ABC Seafood in Foster City during their wedding open house last fall: http://picasaweb.google.com/jimmychoo/ABCSeafood#. Their back room was definitely set-up to be flexible in how you wanted to decorate.
I also seem to recall a space in SF downtown that people have mentioned is located next to a Chinese restaurant so they allow them to cater. I can't remember it at the moment but if you do a search, I'm pretty sure you can find it somewhere in the Weddingbee forums.
Thank you so much to those that responded. I love the suggestions but they're too far. I try to avoid SF because of the parking situation. Another fear I have is when booking a Chinese restaurant, they sometimes section off the restaurant and cater 2 weddings at the same time and that's something I don't want. Since I will only have around 200 guests, I'm afraid that's going to happen. Abride, for ABC in Foster City, is it big enough for them to section it off for 2 weddings? Thanks again for all of those who helped.
Ohhh ABC also has one in Milpitas! Last time we went there for dim sum lunch on a Sunday and they had the back section blocked off for a wedding.

I'm ok with booking a hotel and find a caterer. However, most hotels i looked at don't allow outside catering. Anyone knows of any?
hi..i feel ya..i love chinese-style banquets, but due to the ambience of chinese restaurants, we opted to go w/ a western style location and menu. However, if you find a venue that lets you bring outside caterers, you can find some Chines caterers. Legendary Palace, which is a restaurant in Oak Chinatown, will cater to weddings.
Ming's in Palo Alto has a more "western" feel. East Ocean is GORGEOUS for the view of the bay.
Best wishes in finding a location!

Hello all.
I'm sure there are brides out there that run into the same problem as I have right now. I live in San Jose and would like to find a reception site that has a Chinese banquet menu, but the same time has Western decor. I looked at hotels but they don't offer authentic Chinese food. Then when I look at Chinese restaurants, the atmosphere is dreadful. Anyone know of any Chinese restaurant with nice, classy, western atmosphere or Western reception sites with Asian menu? PLEASE HELP!! I'm desperate!!! Any place around Bay Area would be extremely helpful.
