@naturelle: Have you looked into the DCCA (Delaware Center for Contemporary Art) or Natural History Museum on 52? We visited both of those venues while on the hunt. Both allow outside catering and are less formal/traditional. I do agree - the majority of the venues have an in-house or list of preferred caterers to work within.
Well the Natural History Museum is a little too "natural" for me, lol. But I checked out the DCCA and they have a list of preferred caterers but their FAQ says they will let you choose your own preferred caterer. Do you have a contact for anyone there? I really love what they call they're "industrial chic" look. It's very close to what I have in mind.
@naturelle: Ashlee Lukoff is the events coordinator (alukoff@thedcca.org).
I just found a TON of pics from our scouting mission to the DCCA. Let me know if you're interested and I can find a way to get them to you. Didn't blog about it since we pretty much eliminated it right away, otherwise I'd just fwd the link.
@photographernico: OMG! If you could do that, that would be great! Maybe you can send them in a PM??

Hi Ladies,
Does anyone know of any reception venues that will let you bring in your own food? My FI and I are looking for a site in the NCCo area and will go as far as the Philly suburbs. We are having about 80-85 people and want a lounge atmosphere or at least a place big enough where we can DIY the same look. We're on a tight budget since we're paying for everything ourselves and my mom was going to pay for/cater our food as a wedding gift to us. But it seems like a lot of the places I've seen so far, you have to use their preferred caterers. Any suggestions ladies?
