@Tigerlilybride:  I think it would take longer. You are also only giving your guests 30 minutes to eat. They may want to talk and linger over their meals.

How many buffet stations do you have? You may need to allow for a lot longer if there is only one.

Our wedding day timeline is something like this:

1:15 pm Ushers arrive at ceremony
1:30 pm Best man and groom arrive at ceremony
1:45 pm Groom’s parents arrive at ceremony
1:50 pm Mother of bride and bridesmaids arrive at ceremony
1:55 pm Bride and father arrive at ceremony
2 pm Ceremony
2:30 pm Photographs
3 pm Drinks reception
4:30 pm Guests are seated
5 pm Speeches
5:30 pm Three course wedding meal
7:30 pm Cake cutting
8 pm First dance
8 pm – midnight Dancing

I think my timeline will go like this:

1:30:  ceremony
2:30:  ceremony ends
3:00:  cocktail hour begins (we’re paying an extra hour so the guests can stay cool.  After all, the wedding is held in July)
4:55:  intros
5:00:  first dance
5:05:  dinner and toasts (during dinner, we’ll be stopping by every table in lieu of a receiving line)
5:55:  cake cutting
6:00:  father/daughter dance
6:05:  mother/son dance
6:10:  DANCING
8:55:  send-off
9:00:  reception end (after-party at a nearby bar, guests can also go to the local fair for fireworks)
