I think you can do whatever you want but from the weddings I have been to, typically the toast has been right before the cutting of the cake.  But you can also do it before dinner, etc.

But again, do what you want and how you envision your night to go.

This is ours (we’re not doing an entrace):

6:30-6:45     Everyone files in, takes their seat
6:45             First dance (we want to get it over with!)
6:50             Appetizer is served
7                  Toasts
7:30             Dinner concludes/mother-son and other family dances
7:40             Dancing officially begins
9                  Cake cutting
9:30             Cake/desserts served
10:30           Reception ends

DAY OF’ TIMELINE

8:30 AM– Rise & Shine, Bridesmaids meet at Jeni’s house
9 AM Hair/Makeup Appointments & Bridesmaids’ Brunch
12:00 PM – Brides/Bridesmaids arrive. Bride to put on dress, jewelry. Photographer, 2nd shooter begin shooting day.  Photographer arrives at  Pictures of putting on dress, bridal details (all rings, jewelry, shoes, dress, etc).
2nd shooter to hook up with Groom/Groomsmen at this point. Groom/Groomsmen dress at DVI Grand Suite.
1:15PM – Groom/groomsmen arrive at Farm in Party Bus
1:30PM – 2:00PM – “First Look”, bride and groom portraits at Farm (including Mocha)
2:15 PM – Depart from Farm to head to SNPJ. Everyone is entirely dressed and ready to go before arriving to SNPJ.
2:30 – Arrive for Group pictures at venue- (Photographers, Bridal Party, flower girls/ringbearer and mothers, Parents, Grandparents)
3:00 – DOC arrives to help set up centerpieces, oversee setup
2:30 – 3:30 – Photography (Bridal Party, Immediate Family, Grandparents, Flowergirls/Ringbearer and parents)
3:45- Pictures wrap up (MUST)…everyone get to locations and relax…
4:30 – Ceremony Starts
5:00 Ceremony Ends
5:00-5:30– Bar Opens/Guests Seated
5:30 Grand Entrance, Bridal Party to seats
5:40-6:00 Toasts (MOHs, Best Man, FOB, FOG, B&G)
6:25 Dinner is served.  Photographers break for Dinner. Bride & Groom greet guests
7:15 – Dinner cleared/Cake is cut/served.
7:20 – Bride & Groom First Dance, Parents’ Dance
7:30 – Open Dancing begins
10:00– Last Dance

My timeline was cocktail hour, then the guests go in for the reception.  We did our grand entrance, then first dance and the salad was served.  During dinner we did toasts, then after dinner we did the father/daughter dance & mother/son dance followed by the Hora and open dancing.  A little later in the evening we did the cake cutting followed by the garter/bouquet toss.
