Hi everyone! I could really use some help in figuring out my wedding day (mostly the reception) schedule. I don’t know how much time it will ACTUALLY take to do things. I’m not sure how long is TOO long where people get bored and leave, versus too short and people are rushed.
I’m planning on having around 300 people at my wedding. We’re having it at a BEAUTIFUL house up on a hill (think: vineyard-ish). The ceremony is in the front of the house, the reception in the back. We’re having a band and caller come to do dancing. Our ceremony will start at 5:00, and we don’t want to leave any later than 9:00.
I’m wondering, past brides, from your experience, how long did your reception take? How many people did you have? How long did it take for everyone to get through the food line and eat? What are good times to allot for food, dancing, cake cutting, toasts, etc.? Do you have any tips to get more people to stay through the whole reception? Can you give me an example schedule from your wedding/reception, and tell me how it worked out in reality?
