So after weeks that turned into months of searching, my Fiance and I finally decided on a reception venue about a month ago. I am happy with the choice, and it definetely fits in our budget, but I woke up in the middle of the night last night stressed, anxious, and worried that the space is going to be ‘off’. We opted to find a resturant for our venue to cut down on costs and give the option of a full cash bar to guest without the exorbitant beverage service fees. The resturaunt we are using will be closed to the general public, so there will definetely be enough room for the 200 people we are inviting. The dining rooms are on one side of the entrance, and the bar/banquet room on the other. We are having a cocktail reception, so there will be a ‘snack’ table with apps and the cake and gift table setup in the dining area. The bar area has frech doors that open into the banquet room, which is where we will have the band and dancing (in the banqet room).
I am anxious about the sections, and worried about dancing space. The banquet room would seat 80-100 (my best guess) if setup with tables. We plan to have a few tables around the perimeter and the middle of the room open for dancing.
Anyone done something similar, and how did it turn out?
Also, I don’t want to spend the money on renting a dance floor, has anyone danced on carpet and did you have any complaints?
