I am new here, and to posting on boards in general!
My fiance and I are looking to get married this September after 8 years together. We’re broke (graduating) college students but we are blessed to have help from our parents.
That being said…we are still on a budget and would hate to all be bombarded with debt! Finding a venue in the MD/Annapolis/Baltimore is difficult on a budget. We’ve looked at tons of lovely places but we can’t and won’t bite the bullet for a huge price tag! We’d be happy with a lovely backyard/home style reception but we do not have the space. All in all we want our guests to have fun and for everyone to be happy!
1. Does anyone have budget friendly ideas for locations in our area? Renting everything (plates, chairs, tables…) may be too stressful for us but we aren’t canceling anything out.
2. One inexpensive place we have found is local but OH so ugly! I have attached a photo…How can we make this place beautiful?

@tjsbaby17: Is this somewhat you are looking for? Sorry-former yankee here, so unsure but I found this-and it seems like it could work for inspiration.
Handmade Front Yard Wedding
Perhaps you could add strips of yellow tulle to the ceiling from the center out, make it feel “tent-like” and make it billow at the corners and into a soft bow around the ceiling? Have an indoor aisle space marked with flowers in pots or vases, and rent or buy some small trees around the perimeters of the room to make it feel more “garden-like”? Use white chairs (even non-matching would be okay) and linens-maybe even use (new) handkerchiefs for napkins-embroidered ones for the ladies? Add a yellow satin runner and an assortment of clear glass-unmatching vases, and perhaps one gold mercury glass piece per centerpiece. Tie silverware with a yellow ribbon. DIY flowers. Definitely include a suitcase for cards. Make sure to have a round table with placecards.

The most important thing to remember is lighting! I’d do a crap ton of uplights and just turn off the room lighting completely. From there, lots of candles and soft accents with your flowers. When you save money on venue, you can allocate it to more important things:)

@kaiangel6: That’s true. Thanks!

We may have 75. Most of my family lives out of state and so it is a bit difficult to guesstimate. We are aiming for 6500 for budget but LESS is more!

Have you decided on this as your location for sure? Have you looked outside of Annapolis for a place? I have a couple of ideas – I was married in Annapolis last year and looked at just every available option or so I like to think. I might be of some help 🙂 PM me.
