I know someone who is planning their wedding and their parents want them to choose a reception venue that serves Chinese food.  Anyone have any recommendations?  Thanks!

Hey Lillindy, Hope this link is helpful.

I attended a wedding some time back. Food and service was excellent.  Also the following link mentions other options too. http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/18653

I have been searching for the same, here are some venues which allow outside catering. Two well known Chinese restaurants in SJ are Phu Lam Moon and Flourishing Garden.

    Venues:

    Sj Mexican Heritage plaza

    Sj City Hall Rotunda

    Scottish Rite Center

Or, they could go to Dynasty in Cupertino. Seafood restaurant which has a ballroom on the back.

    Good luck!

Not sure which side of the Bay they're looking for, but we went to a friend's wedding at East Ocean in Emeryville a few years back (http://www.hongkongeastocean.com/). It's right on the water and the views of SF are gorgeous. They do traditional Chinese wedding banquets.

    East Ocean (Emeryville)

    Yang Sing (SF, Rincon center)

    Dynasty (Cupertino)

ALL good and nice looking chinese restaurants. More upscale.

Peony (Oakland Chinatown) is pretty big and used to be nice(r) but worth a try

South Seafood Village is very nice too with chandeliers, but parking could be a problem on the street.
