Hello all! Am looking for a suitable reception venue in Cambridge, UK. Have already ruled out the colleges (too expensive, no outside caterers allowed), the botanical gardens (not enough space for 100 sit down diners), the museums (not enough space for 100 sit down diners, unless I’m missing something), the local pubs (ditto), the hotels and golf course (too expensive), and marquees (too expensive).
I am now looking into churches, but do you think it will be weird coming straight from one church and into a different one for the reception? The reception will have to be held in the chapel proper, as well, rather than in the space out back, as they only have space for that many diners in the actual church proper. That’s why we can’t be married and have a reception in the same church… well, that and other things.
I’m also thinking about getting a license to serve alcohol… plus how early will we have to clear up if services start at 8am on a Sunday morning? We’ll be doing clean up ourselves as well, probably, unless anyone has other ideas?
What’s the feeling on this? Has anyone got any other venue ideas?
PS On the plus side, I just found an AMAZING caterer. Their food plus home made buffet and all booze will eat up a good 60% of our budget, but totally worth it… especially as we realised we couldn’t afford photography, videography, a wedding car, favours, or fresh flowers…
