I don’t know if there’s a website — it’s a pretty personalized thing.  I would suggest talking to your DJ or band leader or if you’re doing your own music — ask someone to be the MC that knows how you want the evening to flow.  Here’s what we’re doing.

Cocktails

Introduction of the bridal party & parents

Intro of Mr & Mrs

First dance

Blessing

Toast 1/Toast 2

Father Daughter Dance

Mother Son Dance

Cake

Dancing

Bouqet Dance

Dancing

Money Dance

More dancing and DONE!

my DJ gave me a worksheet for the timeline of the reception and we just plugged things in from there.

I would check with your DJ or your venue for something like this to get started!

My venue gave me a rough idea.

I agree with the other bees here. You DJ should be able to help you out with this since he will be the one kind of making things flow during the reception. If your venue has a wedding coordinator, he/she should also help you get started with your timeline as well. Our venue had a wedding coordinator who helped us get started with our timeline, and then our DJ helped us fine tune it closer to the wedding.

it actually varys coast to coast, on the west coast, the dancing seems to follow dinner but I really like the first dance coming right after the entrance. Also it really depends on the timing of the food in your reception, if you are serving the cake right wawy etc. I would make a list of all the things you want to do and lay it out starting with timed things, entrance eating etc and then fit the other things in. I think other than startiong with dessert, no one will notice things being out of order., Also if you have older guests or children who might want to go early it might be good to consider them in the planning if the rest of the party plans to party all night long.
