Hi Catlady
I'm a twin of yours - June 26th, 2010! Many reasons why I chose my reception site - beautiful, parents had theirs there 31 years ago, also walk by it on the weekends as it is downtown oakville on the water and I just love the look and feel of it inside. I was lucky enough to have a longer engagement and secure a date next june as they book fast as they are private and only allow so many weddings in one season.
Hi all,
I am also getting married in June 2010 and I was amazed at how quickly things were booked up. We needed up picking Inn on the Twenty (it's in Jordan in the Niagara region) for ours since it is close to my extended family (his is very small) and as silly as it sounds, they had trees. It's a daytime reception so I wanted some place that had large windows overlooking forest.
I just booked my venue last week for October 2010. We chose paradise banquet hall. It is simply beautiful inside!!! Huge crystal chandaliers and amazing decorations already there. Of course we'd still have to spend some money of linens and such but the backdrop is already! We LOVE it! We also booked out ceremony there as well. they have a cute littkle outdoor location a few steps away from the main entrance to our hall.
I did almost start crying when we booked it though. We had been there previously to check it out and i made a second appointment to go and book. while waiting, the receptionist told us that another bride was coming in to book that same hall, she had previously put it on hold.
I felt my eyes start to well up and then the sales lady came out of her office and was like "oh no they decided to go with Queen Anne room instead of Queen Mary!" THANK GOD! Now I will have to make sure to go over and thank that bride for changing her mind, because if she didn't I would have been out a venue and in a puddle of tears! lol
Anyone from the TO area have good floral and photo/video vendor suggestions?
Booking a venue was one of my major concerns when we officially started planning but as soon as I saw the Royal Canadian Yacht Club on Toronto Island I knew we had to be married there.
I love it for so many reasons: you have to get there by boat (I love boats!), the setting is stunning with views overlooking the Toronto skyline, the veranda around the clubhouse is amazing and perfect if our guests want to go outside, the catering manager was so pleasant that I knew she would be easy to work with, and we can do both the ceremony and reception on site.
All in all I couldn't think of a more perfect place for an August wedding so I booked immediately!
My FH and I visited 4 halls and I had called 3 more to see if the day was available. Booking a hall was our first priority since we are getting married in December we weren't sure if banquet halls would be available due to christmas parties.
We booked La Primavera Hospitality and Convention Centre. Both my FH and I fell in love with it. I think because we saw the hall set-up for a wedding that we were able to imagine ourselves in the hall.
My sister got married at The Jewel and it's a beautiful hall also. Good Luck to all of you.

Hello Toronto bees,
I was just looking through the website of the reception hall we selected and it got me wondering, where are my fellow Toronto bees going to celebrate their special day? What was it about the place that made you fall in love with it and were there any close seconds?
My FH and I were engaged on Valentines and we thought we had plenty of time to book a hall for our June 2010 wedding. Lo and behold many of the halls had already been booked! We set appointments to see 3 halls sometime in March and we decided very quickly on the location.
We absolutely fell in love with The Jewel Banquet Hall. I know it's probably not as well known as other halls but we knew immediately that it was the place. We loved everything about it but the biggest selling point was that there was really only 2 main halls...meaning we wouldn't have to "share" our venue with others.
