Hi Everyone! I am hoping that someone out there has the perfect recessional song for my wedding. We have picked our brains, but nothing has struck our fancy.
It would be helpful to have more information. For example, are you using a string quartet, a solo guitarist, a DJ...? And what genre are you looking for, or what song(s) are you using in the rest of the ceremony?
Beach Boys - Wouldn't It Be Nice - Been humming it all day!
Also check out the Vitamin String Quarter - classic performance of modern songs. They have an album of basically every modern performed. Queen - You're My Best Friend is surprisingly catchy.
I asked because I was originally thinking of using Rodrigo y Gabriela's "Tamacun." I was really excited about it... but FI fell in love with having an acoustic, gypsy jazz trio and we had to choose from their set list. We're going with "Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen" and "Bossa Dorado."
Well this isn't for everyone, but we used a faster version of the Sesame Street theme on guitar and violin...talk about upbeat, we dang near skipped down the aisle.
We're doing REM's "At My Most Beautiful" which wouldn't work too well on guitar, but our processional song, which has an upbeat guitar riff, is "Romeo and Juliet" by Dire Straits.
We used "My First, My Last, My Everything" - the beginning few beats are fun and upbeat...
I would have used "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" - but we used that for the bridal party entrance into the reception. Everytime we hear that song it now reminds us of our wedding...it really got the crowd on their feet!

We are looking for something upbeat...
Thanks!

posted by briannie 183 posts 4 months agoOur processional is 'Stolen' by Dashboard Confessionals. Just the chorus, repeated over a few times - to be played acoustically, as well.

I love the idea of Romeo and Juliet -I may have to use that mid ceremony. Sounds so good on guitar.
posted by ginabean 63 posts 2 months agoWe walked out to "All You Need is Love"
It was in the wedding from Love Actually-although we didn't have a full horn section and participatory wedding guests, just a harpist.
I know someone who danced out to "Sexy Back"
