One of my favorite "mindless reading" series is the Janet Evanovich "Stephanie Plum" series!
Anything by Emily Giffen or Maeve Binchy. Or Jennifer Weiner (Little Earthquakes was one of my faves!).
@7SEVENJ9: Great recommendation! Those are great!
I also like anything by Jennifer Weiner and Emily Giffin.
If you don't mind a bit of different added to a barrelful of naughty mixed in with a whole lot of laughs, find something by Shelly Laurenston. She is always thrown into my travel bag.
Try the 44 Scotland Street series. VERY funny. Alexander McCall Smith's writing is witty and light.
Sometimes I like re-reading books I read as a teenager. Have you ever read the Alice series by Phllyis Reynolds Naylor? http://alicemckinley.wordpress.com/the-books-in-order/ They are such good books - dont read the Prequel ones, just start from the beginning of the actual Alice series.
@hilsy85: I second both of those authors and I loved Little Earthquakes and Good In bed!
Jen Lancaster!
Such a Pretty Fat is my favorite....I laughed out loud through the whole thing :)
Another vote for Emily Griffin! Especially "Something Borrowed" and "Something Blue".
Thanks everyone!
Unfortunately a lot of the specific books you recommend aren't available in ebook via my local library. :( But I did check out a couple of the author's other novels.
Any more?
I second the Alice series and Jen Lancaster!
And check out Laurie Notaro.
I second anything by Jen Lancaster. I think I lost weight from all the laughing I did while reading her books. Or worked on my abs :)
@zippylef: I was totally going to suggest her! lol great minds think alike. Did you know that they are making a movie of something borrowed??
@Gerbera: Which e-reader do you have? I have a kindle and am interested in finding people to share books with! I've never done it before and don't really know how to do it, but would love to learn!
I second the Stephanie Plum books. Have you read anything by Charlaine Harris? She has a ton of books out. I've read all of the Sookie Stackhouse, Aurora Teagarden and Harper Connelly series and enjoyed them all.
Hey!
I have a Nook so unfortunately I don't think we can share. :(
I think Kindle books are in a different format than Nooks. And at least with the Nook I know only certain books are able to be lent to other readers.
Maybe you can start a post on here about Kindle book sharing?
Thanks for the reco!
@Gerbera: Thanks - that is a good idea :) I just did a quick google on how to share kindle e-books. It looks like I can share with anyone, they would just need to have (at the very least) a free kindle app. I should have gone for the nook. It seems like everyone I know has one!
I also recommend Jen Lancaster and Jennifer Weiner, they're always a quick read and lots of fun. I also love Sophie Kinsella, but her books tend to be really similar. I just read Undress Me in the Temple of Heaven by Susan Gilman and I couldn't put it down! I highly recommend it.
Thanks for the reco of Undress Me in the Temple of Heaven.
My library actually had a ebook copy so I started it this morning on the train.
Pretty funny so far!

Can you recommend a light read?
Something fun, heartwarming?
I'm in a bit of a stump lately, I have a couple I'm on a wait list for at the library but nothing else.
Nothing depressing please!
